Yes, a dentist should be consulted but Saba did not say anything about tooth decay, just a nasty taste. No mention of indigestion...possible reflux. He/She requested a "natural remedy" for the nasty taste. I was only sharing my experience with a dental abscess. Dentists are charging inordinate amounts just because they can. If all else fails then there is no choice but there are natural remedies that will work. It sounds like the abscess is draining into his/her mouth so a tea bag saturated with warm water would help draw out more.
I would awaken with a nasty taste before my abscess was discovered. That was an upper molar and the dentist gave me an antibiotic to reduce the inflammation. He referred me to a specialist because the molar has a large filling. Before my appointment I was in so much pain, I searched EC for any help. I bit on raw garlic until the pain went away and used the tea bag remedy given here on EC. By the time I got to the endodontist the abscess was no longer visible and I was not in any pain. Occasionally I'll do the tea bag remedy and I eat more garlic as a preventative measure. Brand named tea is less likely diluted with cheaper ingredients although there are reports that brand named products are being diluted with cheaper ingredients to cut costs. Especially olive oil.
In addition I had an abscess on a cracked lower bicuspid root that I also used the garlic and tea bag on. X-ray confirmed the abscess had reduced in size. This should be done at ones own risk but it is an alternative. Garlic is supposed to be a natural antibiotic.

I have ordered pure 100% natural turpentine from Georgia, US. That will be used twice a week.
With regular care, toxins cannot become a problem. I do not trust people who poison me and are so greedy that people have to go into debt when they are in need of care.
Also I use Dr. Bronner's liquid kastile soap to clean my teeth which is a pleasant experience and works very well.
This way I also have not to worry since I am unable to pay dental fees, exorbitant as they are.
Namaste, Om

"It is also important to note that an abscessed tooth may not have any symptoms at all. Because the tooth has lost vitality (or the ability to feel stimuli), there may be no pain associated with it. However, the abscess is still present and could be further spreading the infection. On occasion, an abscessed tooth is discovered during a routine radiographic (X-ray) exam where the patient has not experienced any symptoms of an abscessed tooth".
