Wake up choking from excessive saliva

Posted By Zebu (Montana, US) on 03/19/2015

For the past few months, I have been waking up in the middle of the night, with excessive saliva in my mouth. Sometimes, it is enough to where I wake up choking. I can't trace it to any medications or foods. Has anyone else heard of this?

I have had the same problem. Although it is not happening currently, it seemed to happen frequently for a long period of time. I don't have an explanation for it though.

Please consult your doctor for a sleep study to ruleout sleep apnea. Waking up choking is a classic sign. Good luck!
