Unsuccessful treatments for 5 year cough

I have had a cough that will result in passing out for 5 yrs now. I found out about 4 yrs ago that it was acid reflux causing the cough. I was put on omeprazole 20 mg two caps a day. This did not stop the cough, I asked if it was my blood pressure meds I was taking HCTZ 12. 5 mg/Lisinopril 20mg and was adv. It was not. They did not try changing the b/p meds just said no. They uped the omeprazole to 4 caps a day instead. The cough did not go away. But in the mean time I suffered a back injury which I take hydrocodone 7.5 mg for. Funny thing happened, the cough went away. When I stop taking the hydrocodone it comes back. They don't pay any attention to that though. I don't want to take hydrocodone all the time. What can I do? I am on a limited income and have to go to the veterans hospital to see a doctor, no other option.

It's the LISINOPRIL! My husband, mother, father and many other friends have all been affected by LISINOPRIL causing a nagging, dry, hacking cough. Change meds and it might do the trick. It's been 9 months since you posted, so maybe you've found your answer by now - I certainly hope so.
