Trying to Locate Borax in Jamaica?

Hi everyone, I appreciate, and have used Earth Clinic for years now, but never had a need to post. Well, now I do. My son has a skin condition which I just cannot seem to get a handle on, and I'm beginning to feel pretty desperate. I want to try bathing his legs in diluted borax solution.

I'm in Clarendon, Jamaica, and am not able to find Borax. I have called all the supermarkets, chemical companies, and the few health food stores I could locate in May Pen, Mandeville, Spanish Town and Kingston, with no luck. In fact, most people have no idea what I'm asking about. I have provided both the common name of Borax, the chemical name, and tell them that it's a laundry booster. But, still no luck.

I wondered whether there are any Jamaicans who are part of the Earth Clinic community, and whether anyone would have an idea where I could locate borax.

While I'm in May Pen, Clarendon, I can also travel to Mandeville, Spanish Town or Kingston. MoBay, or the North side of the island is just too far for me to travel to, so those locations would not help.

Am a Jamaican living in Toronto- as a user of Borax myself I would suggest you try the Health food stores like natural vitamins or there is a big vitamin store in Sovereign plaza in liganea.

Please update us on your findings as I would also like to get some family members there using it as well.... Actually on the side this could represent a business opportunity as it seems that there are increasing demands for these 21st century solutions that are not being sourced in Jamaica right now.

Hi Ted I too have been trying to locate borax, and like you I have called numerous places and they have no clue what I am talking about. I have a scalp condition, and I also want to try it in my laundry but so far I have found nothing locally. I think I will have to bring it in.
