What triggers my pain is if I begin eating on my right side. If the pain starts and shoots up from my jaw into my right temple I can then eat on my right side without any extra pain. After I've finished eating the ache usually persists for about 15-20 minutes before going away completely. It might however come back when I blow my nose or sneeze. It was worse when it first started and I was not able to even touch the right side of my jaw but I can do that now. The pain I get is more of a burning than a stabbing. I have heard that high blood pressure can be a cause (I am taking perindopril and amlodipine) but also diabetes (I've been told I'm borderline at the moment but trying hard not to go over the line! ).
Another curious thing (which may or may not be related) is that when it's dark I get a flash of light out of the corner of my eye when I move my right eyeball. If I'm diagnosed with TN I think I will try B12 and magnesium before prescription medicines.

My TN was triggered by the epinephrine in the shot at the dentist office! Never get that kind of shot! The trauma of it caused herpetic (shingles) outbreak inside that side of my mouth! Horrible pain for weeks! Now I have a electrical shock when I use silverware! My pain has decreased, I saw many doctors, and now my dentist refuses to see me anymore. When my face hurts I use Lavender and Eucalyptus oils. Does bring relief for a bit. Have you had any success?
