If I were using apple cider vinegar on a baby’s skin, I would dilute it with water. (Equal parts of both.) I would be more likely to just apply the water/vinegar mixture to the spot frequently, perhaps at each diaper change. Obviously, if it causes irritation, I would discontinue it.

I might also try castor oil. Just massaging in a drop once or twice a day.

I never needed those remedies for my babies that young, but would personally be comfortable with either.

Let us know how it goes!

I would try putting Lugol's iodine on it. Try daily and lessen if the skin gets too irritated.

Thanks "Mama to many",

I have just started the 50/50 water / ACV ratio..but what signs should I look for recovery? and also signs that the skin is getting irritated..? how long do you think results will manifest.

Thanks again for your thoughts.

Hi again,

To me signs of irritation would be increased redness. And as far as recovery, I don't really know. It isn't something I have dealt with, I'm just giving ideas of what I would try myself.

If it should seem irritated, castor oil is very soothing. Also there are a lot of baby creams on the market that have calendula in them, which I have found to be very soothing for practically anything!

I had a response / suggestion from " mama to many" to dilute ACV /water on equal parts and place on the scar at every diaper change. I need further explanation if I have to clean it up with water after 20min or leave it..and place another at the next diaper change.. Please your suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Hi!

What I had in mind was having a vinegar/water solution near your diaper changing station and just to dip a cotton ball in the solution and then apply on the scar and let it dry. Sometimes vinegar is applied with a cotton ball or bandaid and left on the skin, but I was thinking apply it and let it dry instead of continuously soaking it.
