Toddler with watery stool that smells foul

Posted By Mikocampos (Orlando, Florida) on 11/15/2014

My 2 year old son has watery stool with very foul odor this morning. It's yellow in color but my wife was alarmed by the smell because it took several soap washes to remove the smell from his skin. He is still playing actively and not complaining about any stomach discomfort.

What do you think is this? Do you know any natural remedy we can use?

We use activated charcoal for diarrhea in children and adults. Charcoal tablets (not capsules) are not hard to get toddlers to take as they are tasteless, pretty much. I give them just one for diarrhea and repeat if needed. Activated charcoal powder (1/4 teaspoon for a toddler) could be mixed into some applesauce or yogurt.

I do not know what it is..so many things can cause diarrhea. It is good that he seems well. I have even seen teething cause diarrhea in little ones.

Do make sure he is replacing fluids as dehydration is the biggest risk to little ones when they have diarrhea.
