Thyroid meds dont help

Posted By Sonia (San Diego, Ca, Usa) on 10/10/2012

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in the year 1999. Subsequently I started taking Synthroid. But none of the symptoms went. My hairfall, Bags under eyes, weight gain, dry skin, very oily face, eyebrow hairfall, acne which takes like many many months to subside but the scar is still there, no matter how much water I drink I'm still thirsty, my right hand goes numb in sleep, very low memory, lots of grey hair- now, allergies then(3-4 yrs back), very irritable etc etc. Only a few things got corrected were cholesterol & periods. I'm 37 yrs old now. Now, from a year I started taking nature thyroid. Prior to that I tried armour thyroid which gave me lot's and lot's of hairfall. So I started nature thyroid. When I take thyroid medications, my blood work will be normal. But none of the symptoms go. So from the year 2000, all of a sudden I got pain in my lower back after 4-5 hours of sleep in the night after which I cannot sleep at all. I toss and turn. If I turn to my side, the bones and the rib cage would hurt. From that day onwards, I started getting the pain every night. After 3-4 yrs after the lower back pain, I got left wrist pain. After 2 years of wrist pain, I got Neck pain in the right side in the year 2007. It was so bad, I could hardly lift my head in the morning after waking up. The lower back pain was so worst that I could not lift my 1 year old baby in 2007. I had my first baby in 2006. I got gestational diabetes then. I have overall edema but more in the ab region. Until 6 months back I did not even know that I was gaining weight because of the sodium/salt in my food. If I cut down salt from my food, my weight goes down. Or else it goes up if I eat salt normally. So, it has to be below normal which is not very easy.

I've tried all sorts of herbs, supplements. Nothing has worked so far. I eat bentonite clay, take Juice of oreganol, took iodine supplement, took evening primrose oil, took kelp supplement, took coconut oil which was of help-it treated my allergies, drank dandelion tea, ate lot's of bananas which reduced my neck pain to almost nil, I'm on water and sea salt cure from a year now which has not helped either. Now, I also suspect, this is secondary or tertiary hypothyroidism. There is some problem which has not been treated. I'm not able to point it out. So, Kindly please please help me in pointing out the problem and if possible a good treatment.

Sonia, there is tons of info on Hypothyroid going around nowadays, it's simply an issue of applying the correct knowledge to individual specifics. To achieve correction of your condition the method is simple ---holistic health. First step in recovering health is detoxification. Here's a E.C. link: https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/detoxification.html

As an adjunct to detox, do a parasite/pathogen cleanse. After this begin supplementing an herbal and/or homeopathic endocrine formula or "multiglandular". This should jumpstart and balance your entire endocrine system which, along w/ detox, might very well solve the Thyroid prob. If not, supplement Lugols Iodine, L-Tyrosine, Zinc Lozenges. The mineral Selenium is also recommended for healthy Thyroid. Try wearing an hematite necklace (which can clean and jumpstart the T).

Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi Sonia; There are many symptoms listed here, and you are having alot of pain. (not good) I wonder if cortisol is elevated, because you have trouble with edema from sodium, blood sugar elevated sometimes, and acne. Zinc may help with these symptoms. Also, with elevated cholesterol, premature greying of hair, and skin problems, Copper may be needed.

For memory problems, nerve pain/numbness, hair loss, and thyroid support, B12 can really help. I suggest a sublingual B12, (methylcobalamin), 1000-5000 mcg. Daily. ( Some people may need more or less).

Add a low dose of B complex. The other B's support B12, especially folate.

A typical zinc/copper dosage is, 15mg zinc and 1mg copper. ( Talk with doctor, but I don't think any more than this is necessary.)

I agree that what you're doing to help, increasing potassium foods, adding kelp and coconut oil is good, so maybe these additional supplements can resolve the other symptoms.

Sonia from San Diego, I have hypothyroidism as well and what has me feeling alive again is Organic Apple Cider Vinegar. I Take Armour Thyroid, Synthroid, and some extra T3 for my hypothyroidism, but to help me with the aches and pain, slow digestion, fatigue, hair loss, and other issues I am using Ted's Remedy of ACV and baking soda. I hope this helps you, good luck!
