Seeking Natural Remedies for Teenage Son With Pseudotumor Cerebri

Posted By Stephanie (Mimbres) on 01/02/2016

Pseudotumor cerebri : My 16 year old son was recently diagnosed with this rare condition and the prescription medications they are trying on him don't seem to give him much relief. Any suggestions?

His diagnosis might be wrong.

Try simply giving your son a 200 MG pill of Magnesium citrate in the morning, then one in the evening. If improvement occurs, drop the evening dose. Lack of magnesium can mimic various characteristics of a brain tumor, I.e., visual problems, migraines, tremors, upset stomach, balance.

Also: taking a multi-B vitamin each day would be beneficial.

Less sitting, more physical activity involving walking and running.

Hi Stephanie. My daughter was diagnosed w that at 16 y/o as well. Two things that cause it are lyme disease and candida. Best test for lyme if regular blood test comes up normal is through igenex. Candida never came up on stool tests but comes up high on her blood tests.Try and find out the cause. Diamox helps but takes a while to work and doesn't treat cause. Juicing and eating a lot of vegetables etc helps. My daughters symptoms subsided when treating the candida. There are a couple of natural diuretics but I can't remember off hand. Best of luck!
