Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome

I Love your web site,,, I have tried looking up my ailment (diagnosed 7 years ago),, but it's not listed,,, so I looked up Pain, Peripheral Neuropathy, Leg Pain,, and there is so many suggestions,,, I am currently taking prescribed pain medication,, also take Kratom (for break thru pain and some energy),,,, started Borax remedy about a month ago,,, I am tired of being stuck on the hydrocodone 10mg 4 x a day(it doesn't work anymore)and doctor just wants to put me on something stronger and I refuse,,, I just put up with the pain,,, I know that there is something Natural that I could be doing,, but not sure what,,,,,, so here I am

I walk with a cane,, I am 53 years old, I run my errands do what I can,,, The Borax has seemed to give some relief,,,,, but the pain is unbearable at times,,,

I looked up some remedies,,, like the Alpha Lipoic and was also going to order the Gallium Maltolate (unfortunately out of stock),, I have recently ordered MMS solution but haven't started it yet,,, Heck,,,, I've even read up on Urine Therapy,, I know my Husband thinks I've Lost my mind now..lol

If there is something you can recommend without me breaking the bank (I'm disabled now,,, I worked for 30yrs as a Vet Tech),,, anyways,, I'm hoping to hear what you can do,,,, Drs say surgery is out of the question for me(aren't I the lucky one😅)

Thank you in advance
Lali

Hi Lali,

I am sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I am sure our readers will have some great suggestions for you.

Just wanted to let you know that you can buy the Gallium Maltolate cream at the Gallixa site. Not sure when Earth Clinic will have it back in stock, so please buy it directly from Dr. Bernstein. Here's the URL:

This is from Hopkinsmedicine.org:

Depending on the severity of the condition, the doctor may ultimately recommend one of several surgical procedures to address the problem, including an operation called tarsal tunnel release.

In tarsal tunnel release, the surgeon creates an opening behind the ankle that extends down to the arch of the foot. The surgeon carefully divides the ligament so it is not pressing against the tibial nerve.

Hi Lali,

Does icing your foot provide relief? It is highly antiinflammatory and in some cases can reduce or control nerve pain with regular use. It usually takes 3 days minimum of twice a day icing to see if you will benefit.

Another consideration is to call a "compounding pharmacy" as opposed to a regular pharmacy and explain your situation to the pharmacist and ask if they can make a topical pain reliever for you so you can avoid the oral pain relievers with their sometimes severe side effects. If the pharmacist says yes, ask them if they will send the formulation to your doctor so your doctor can approve and write a script for the topical. The topical should hold you over until the icing kicks in and then if there is any breakthrough pain that the icing is not helping with, you can apply the compounded topical as needed to augment the icing. This should avoid many of the side effects of oral pain killers. If you are trying to avoid prescription meds, even in topical form, you might consider a TENS unit which I recently wrote about on EC. There is anecdotal evidence for pain relief from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome using a TENS unit, so it may have a similar effect for Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome and it is relatively inexpensive.

Here is a link to that article:

If there is actual nerve damage, alpha lipoic acid in conjunction with melatonin may be useful to try and repair the damage.

Good luck and please keep us posted on your progress!
