Suffering from itchy skin for 2 years

Posted By Kris (Los Angeles, California) on 11/20/2014

Hi, I have been suffering from itching for about two years now. I have been to several different doctors for it and they say it is allergies. I am concerned because I itch everyday of my life and as far as I can tell nothing helps, I have tried switching detergents, body soap, lotion, and watching what I eat. Nothing seems to make it go away. Everyday I take Zyrtec to help control the itch. I don't like taking medication though so it worries me that I have been using Zyrtec for almost two years. This is an all over body itch so creams won't really work and at times my scalp itches terribly too. Any idea if there is something I can do to get completely rid of the itchy skin?

Hi Kris, been there, done that.

About 5 years ago I had a similar problem. I couldn't even get a solid night's sleep without waking up in the middle of the night to scratch and follow with a very hot shower which seemed to settle down the nerve endings(I guess).

The first thing on my path to full recovery was extra virgin coconut oil. I applied it quite liberally to any part or all over my body several times a day as the opportunity would arise. It is absorbed by the skin very quickly without the shine that one gets from commercial creams and ointments. I also massaged it into my scalp as well each night before bed and used different bedding so as to not ruin good bedding with the excess body coconut oil. The key here is that coconut oil is anti-fungal(as well as being anti-viral, and anti-bacterial). Coconut oil is good for you externally as well as internally. Some recommend 3 tablespoons internally daily for good health.

The second thing on the road to recovery was olive leaf extract for internal use. It also helps with healing and fungus and any parasites. 3 to 6 capsules per day.

The third thing was oil of oregano externally which is excellent for healing any skin abrasions(diluted appropriately).

The fourth thing was a significant food intake adjustment to include waaay more fresh fruit and fresh fruit juices to help heal the body. I quadrupled my fruit intake to a minimum of 8 servings per day(usually citrus). This was to eliminate the acidosis condition which stresses the kidneys so much.

Remember, your skin is your third kidney. If your kidneys are having difficulty, your skin has to try to pick up the slack.

I hope these suggestions give you some relief.

Kris --- I think this is called pruritus, in naturopathic medicine. It has to do with a toxic liver condition that should be treated first.

There are many good suggestions on EC by Tim, Bill and so on. Milk thistle is one and anti etc. Look under Remedies or Ailments on EC. Treating afflictions on the skin can take a long time and not really address the cause.

Namaste, Om

K: Get as powerful magnifying glass as possible and examine the dermal of affected area for foreign "fibers" which would prove positive for Morgelons disease. Sweat treatments like Steam-room or hot mineral baths (use a sponge to clean the surface) should help a bunch.

Also improve your indoor air quality w/ a better AC filter.

Vit-E (mixed tocotreinols & tocopherols), Selenium, Omega 3 Fatty acids like Fish, Krill, Flax, and Chia, plus CoQ10 combination will help also.
