Stage 5 renal failure interstitial nephritis suggestions please

Posted By Sandie (Herndon, Va) on 11/30/2014

I feel so blessed to have found this site as you are who I have been looking for the past 8 years. I have stage 5 renal failure, not on dialysis as I am taking supplements, on low protein diet, taking 6500mg of sodium bicarbonate daily to keep my CO2 levels low. Still have good urine output with trace protein in the urine. I am listed for a transplant. I would love whatever advice you can send.

We have determined that the initial cause of the problem was due to NSAIDS, even though it was not high dose it seems I have strong sensitivity as I do not have any other risk factors. My eosinophils have been elevated since my diagnosis in 2007. My blood pressure is low to normal range 60/100 to 80/110, my sugar is normal and I do my best not to consume sugar foods, but do find that I crave sugar because I am so limited in protein, 20 to 30 grams protein per day. I do not consume dairy and minimal to no meat products. When I was consuming meat it was grass fed, organic. I drink distilled water with lemon and I love seltzer water. My goal would be to reduce the inflammatory response and regain some kidney function. I currently have 9%GFR. Thank you so much for any guidance you can give me.

Dear Sandie, I am very hopeful that charcoal poultices and charcoal internally would be helpful to you.

Here is a little more information about that:

Here is how to make a charcoal poultice:

It sounds like you are very motivated to maintain and improve your health. And it sounds like you are reading and studying the pages here at Earth Clinic on Kidney Disease. Please keep us posted on how you are doing!

For what it's worth, my wife has diabetes, so the doctor (DO) keeps a close tab on her gfr. When it dropped to 39, I started looking for natural remedies. I found studies done in the UK that showed very good results by using raw apple cider vinegar and common baking soda. My wife has been taking 1 oz. of ACV mixed with 1/8 tsp. of baking soda, (and a glass of water, because she doesn't like the taste.) Her GFR has gone from 39 to 57 over the past few months with no other changes in treatment or diet. The reports I read stated that people in the UK have been able to STOP dialysis after starting this procedure.

Thank you. I am currently trying the charcoal and want to be able to differentiate the difference this makes in my function. After my next bloodtests, I will be adding your decoction to see what effect that has. Thanks so much for the suggestion.
