Sons severe reactions to phosphates sulfates etc in food

Posted By Joan (Portsmouth, Hampshire) on 06/09/2014

Can anyone help with a severe allergy and overactive immune problem. My son has a bad reaction to inorganic phosphates, sulphites, nitrates and dyes which are in all present day foods. It's caused him to suffer M.E, glandular fever, internal and rectal bleeding, dangerously low iron levels and reflux problems. How can he help his body resist these chemicals? I realize present day farming and chemical treatment of our food is not going to change, but there must be something somewhere that will help to make him less ill and miserable

Dear Joan,

I am sorry your son is suffering so much!

I have some thoughts on things you could try but it would be helpful first to know how old your son is and whether or not he is taking any medication. Also, what is his diet like?

This case has all appearance of very low antioxidant status. I will not go into detail here, but do search "antioxidants" at local or online health food store and purchase the largest variety or broad spectrum, or complex or formula you can. Antioxidant therapy will greatly strengthen and protect cells from the free radicals.

Thank you so much for your interest. My son is 50 years old and has been subject to allergies since birth. He was a few weeks premature and because I was unable to feed him myself he was given what was called National Dried milk which must have been completely unsuitable for such a tiny baby. It's got so much worse over the years and with research he's been able to identify these chemicals in our food which cause him so much grief. He is able to purchase testers from your country with which he is able to gauge the amount of phosphates etc. His medication consists of 2 inhalers(Salbutamol and Seretide)-Cetirzine-Piriton-Calcium Carbonate-Omeprazole He does have a very sympathetic doctor but she says there is no treatment His diet is mainly vegetarian with seed sprouting replacing vegetables which are mostly contaminated by inorganic phosphate in the soil. Sometimes he is able to obtain fish straight from the sea which is fine and eggs from the Prince of Wales Duchy of Cornwall estate I would be so grateful for any suggestions that might help.

Dear Joan,

Your son is blessed to have you for a mother and his advocate! It sounds like you all have done a lot of research and have already made many positive steps for him.

Timh had a great suggestion regarding the anti-oxidants. I would look in to that for sure.

I would also look into the alkalizing remedies on Earth Clinic. I am assuming he is taking the inhalers for his allergies? Bill Munroe's Hydorgen Peroxide Inhalation therapy method, on this site, may be of help to him also.

Our family has found cold pressed organic coconut oil to be helpful for autoimmune issues. We have also found home made raw milk kefir helpful. It has helped my daughter with autoimmune/allergy issues. She feels better than she has in years since she started consuming it.

Slippery Elm Bark Powder and Comfrey (root or leaf) are two excellent herbs for healing in the gut. They are gentle and healing. I make a little slippery elm porridge when I need some. 1 Tablespoon Slippery Elm and 1/4 cup hot water mixed up. I add a little salt and honey. The comfrey can be put into a smoothie, made into tea, taken in capsules, etc.

But you will know best if these herbs and coconut oil would be suitable for your son, since they would still be grown in soil, which can be an issue for him.

Activated Charcoal Powder may also be of help to him. Charcoal adsorbs a huge list of offending substances. He can take a teaspoon in an 8 ounces glass of water 1-3 times a day. It can be constipating without enough water. It also will cause the stool to be black. Charcoal has healed many of all kinds of problems. Charcoal should be taken two hours away from any medicines or herbs as it can decrease their effectiveness.

You have obviously done a lot of research. I know you will continue. There are many, many stories here on Earth Clinic and I think the more you read the more you will get ideas for things to try and help him to heal. Sometimes it is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Please let us know what you try and how your son is doing. I pray that you find the answers soon!
