Son with discolored teeth help requested

Posted By Bea (La, Ca) on 12/07/2009

Could please anyone give me some feedback on discoloration of the teeth? I have a son with 5 permanent tooth already and the two front ones use to be beautiful white and now you can see through it, it is yellowish and it is stained and not smooth. We were doing apple side vineger every morning for a while, could it be related?

thank for your feedback

Bea, since you say that you were doing apple cider vinegar every morning for awhile, I would have to say it's probably related. ACV is very acidic hence why some people will only take it by drinking it with a straw.

Thank you Lisa for your feedback.

One other thing that occured to me also, is the chlorine of the pool which my son swims every day, just because his friend, about the same age. is showing the same signs of descoloration (not so bad though). Any suggestions how to normalize and reverse the process ?

Thank you!

You might try getting him to rinse after brushing with Hydrogen peroxide (10% solution). Swish about a tablespoon in mouth for up to ten minutes and then spit out - DO NOT SWALLOW! I have been using the peroxide as a rinsing agent after brushing my teeth and my teeth are almost chalk white! I've been doing this for months. It did take a couple weeks before they started getting white though. Also, I did notice that when I was drinking the ACV that my teeth were getting yellow. I used baking soda to brush my teeth with several times a day (I mixed it as tooth paste to brush with). So, maybe the combinaton of brushing teeth with baking soda and rinsing with peroxide is the answer to whiter, brighter, healtier teeth! Give it a try!

Thank you Janie, We will give a try! I would love also to find out something to rebuild the enamel which seems to be deficient once is so rough.
