Mystery Skin Condition After Swimming in Pool, Please Help!

Posted By Violet (Ontario, Canada) on 10/14/2018

This started immediately on the back of my neck and up into my hair, after I swam in a dirty pool, there was a dog that swam regularly in the pool that had a very smelly odor, like a fungal infection. I was also living in a house with some people who were told they have "psoriasis" on their scalp. Oddly, when I went to the Dr they said it was Psoriasis, they said it's not contagious. It is not just ironic that we had un-contagious psoriasis.

It is very itchy, comes and goes (but not for long), travels a bit, but doesn't go far, majority of it stays in one area, I have tried so many things, I do get immediate relief from tinactin(anti-fungal cream) but it doesn't go away for long, maybe a day. some other things I have found little to a lot of relief that have not made it go away yet are:

ACV, Oregano Oil, Borax, Alcohol, Peroxide, Detergents, Lemon & Lime Juice, Castor Oil, Honey, a number of different oils. Nothing has worked, it has been a year and I believe it's a fungus, but I could be wrong.

I would appreciate any help. Been on Earth Clinic since the beginning, thanks for everything.

Dear Violet,

The fact that it responds well to an OTC antifungal makes me think tea tree oil might help. I usually use the NOW organic tea tree oil. I put a few drops into a dab of aloe gel and massage it where needed. This won't make your hair greasy so you could apply a couple of times a day.

If that doesn't work, calendula of some sort may. A calendula cream or tincture can be used topically. Nutribitoic makes a GSE cream that I think has calendula in it and we have found it useful for several difficult skin issues.

I hope you find the solution soon. It is funny how what works for one doesn't always for another and you just keep trying the next thing until it works...
