Elderly Mother With Itchy Forehead and Burning - Please Suggest Remedies

Posted By chia (BC Canada) on 04/18/2023

My 85 year old mother has had this itchy forehead, rough and scaly with bumps also and red for months now. The doctor is of no use so we have been trying assorted ways to bring her relief, even if only temporary from CBD cream, vaseline, castor oil etc etc.

The Doctor offered steroid cream which was price wise insane so she turned that down and we are at our wits end as to what to do. I realize at her age, it could be an auto immune issue or something inside the body of course, but any thoughts as too relief?

I also recommended she drink water and take fish oils & olive oil etc to help the skin but beyond that, I'm out of ideas.

chia,

You can try 1% Clotrimazole cream ($5 ~ $9) to see if it has a fungal component to her skin condition. It is available over the counter at most drug stores as well as Walmart, Rexall and Drug Mart.

If you took her to the doctor and they prescribed a corticosteroid, what was their diagnosis? It would be helpful to know in order to get the best answers.

It's Demodex folliculorum.

When you stated scaly, red, itchy I knew exactly what it was.

Hi Chia

The best is Hemp Oil. And the second best is Lavender Oil. You could try 2 days and change for 2 days.

Hemp Oil will clear all skin issues.

God Bless

Gary

Hi Chia,

Has she been tested for a vitamin d deficiency? If not, perhaps it would be a good time. I had a 30 year on and off skin condition with itching and flaking on around my nose (seb derm was the diagnosis) that was FINALLY cured after taking a vitamin d3 liquid serum for a few days. That was about 5 years ago and it has not returned.
