Seeking anti rejection natural remedies after liver transplant

Posted By Christina (Syracuse, Indiana) on 10/04/2014

I am a liver transplant recipient since 2005. I am very scared that if I do not find a natural way to keep my liver rather than anti-rejection pills called Prograf by the time the economy goes down, that I may not make it through. I am hoping anyone out there knows of a way to naturally to help me without pills for that or the Urso forte, which thins my bile so it does not get clogged in my bile ducts.

It would be easier to suggest something before they removed your liver but what's done is done. I don't think anyone here will have any solutions for you regarding Prograf since it is related to a transplant. I don't want to say an alternative doesn't exist but it would likely not be well known.

About 6 months ago I had a talk with this women in her late 50s who had a liver transplant about 28 years earlier. She was relatively healthy. Just took a couple medications and that was it.

I tend to avoid medications. I tell people to ween themselves off them. People are generally dealing with their own body parts. In your case, it may be prudent to stay on it even if it is immuno suppressive. I understand your fear. This may be a situation where once you go down this path, there is no return. The only thing you can do is follow thru.

I think your life expectancy will be a by product of many things. I think existing or new health conditions will be an important thing. I think it is important to live as clean a health as possible especially your diet. Some light exercise. I think you have to keep yourself from developing new medical conditions. We are not in control of everything so we all need a little luck. I also realize it is difficult to live with uncertainty.

For bile ....

I notice the medication also addresses gallstones. there are many batural remedies to removes stones also.

Standard naturopathic support for liver health is Milk Thistle Seed, Turmeric, Artichoke Leaves, Dandelion Root, and Lecithin. This regimen will improve the function of your current liver. Drinking Lemon water increases bile flow as does ACV.

As for independence from immunosuppressant's, there are some possibilities worth exploring. Cannabis is probably the best single natural medication to "balance" immune response be it over or under. You can now purchase legal Hemp Oil rich in CBD and low in THC w/ good potential, but the most beneficial would be high CBD & THC which is currently not legal most places.

One other "possible" remedy would be "cold showers" or "cold baths" or taking a brief walk outside on a cold day in summer cloths. This cold "shock" has remarkable qualities for "balancing" immune and endocrine systems in the body; it also has very beneficial effects on the mind.

Another possibility would be (after you begin a good health regimen as Prioris suggested, as well as tested the liver support protocol), try and slowly cut back on the mg dose of current meds.

If this doesn't go well one last effort to stretch your medication thereby reducing the cost is to do daily "zapping". Zapping very much increases the effect of most all pharmaceutical medications. In this scenario, if you could cut back as much as half your current dose w/ any help from all the above suggestions, AND incorporate zapping, it may be possible to take as little as 1/4 your current dose, which might make it financially possible to benefit sufficiently in decent health.

You might also try and purchase your meds from international pharmacies online at a lesser cost. USA pharmaceuticals are some of the most expensive in the world. Always look for "generic equivalent".

Hi Tim;

You mentioned in a post to purchase pharmacy drugs online from another country.. How does one know if these are the right drugs or they are you giving you the right drug. Is this legal?? I would like to try it but I hesitate.

Obtain an online picture of your drug in generic form to match that of your product. If they don't match and the label is a different drug mail it back for the correct one. If the drug is not legal it cannot be shipped or mailed to your address.

Biggest worry is scam retailers posing as legitimate pharmacies. There are many online customer review or blogs that examine or post experiences w/ particular pharmacies or retailers.

Insurance covering international sales is also another topic to examine as residential insurance companies are allied to residential medical and pharmaceutical plans. This means you will probably need to pay cash for the product.

Hi Tim (Kentucky)

Thanks for the reply, but I have been looking online for non-prescription places to order and I can't seem to find any with pictures or anything that makes much sense to me. It seems I am using google and the search engines and not even getting many hits on this. Plus I am so confused about the whole process..

If woould be so appreciated. Thank You

Hope I can help you Bee. Type the name of the drug in the search bar but choose picture or image search, but you may not need to do a picture search as when you find a retailer there is usually a pic plus verbal descriptions etc.

I prefer Yahoo over Google but use both as well as MSN and sometimes ASK. ShopWiki is a good place to shop for otc medications. I have had good luck w/ United Pharmacies and Freedom Pharmacies.

One more option would be requesting an older, non-patent generic medicine that you can afford from your Dr. If your Dr cannot help w/ a less expensive drug find a Dr that will.

Hi, I'm not a liver transplant recipient but I'm a nutritional therapist and health coach as well as wife to a liver transplant recipient. There's so much I would love to tell you about our discovery but the prograf or tacrolimus is killing your microbiome and damaging the lining of your intestines and this is causing a bacterial imbalance and antibiotic resistance. There's an Institute formed by Dr Starzal where he was 43% successful in weaning transplant patients of liver intestinal and kidney transplants off of their immune suppressant drugs permanently as well as reversing rejection.

I highly encourage that you look up Dr. Starzal's foundation. They can properly help you wean off your prograf under a doctor's supervision.

Just search: Weaning Transplant Recipients from Immunosuppressive Drugs UPMC
