Seeking Advice for Wife With Chronic Morning Headaches

Re: Morning headaches

Hello! My wife has been having headache problems for around 2 years now. She would normally get it on weekends where she likes to sleep longer, maybe10-12 hours. But the last couple of months, it's getting worse even if she will sleep for only 6 - 8 hours. She never gets a headache during the day or evening if it will not start in the morning. She's currently taking ibuprofen but she's afraid of the side effects that continuous use would give her. The pain is on the forehead, sometimes mostly in the right side, but other times all over the forehead. Please anybody have some advice?

Vanessw;

Re your wife's headaches after night's sleep.

Without thinking too much about nutritional possibilities; I've had that problem and it is totally related to "how" my head is positioned.

I have a history of spinal curvature. Two rear end collisions. Most of my neck problem focused on the left side where C-2 and C-3 are tilted a little outward; hence my natural curve is off. So IF I sleep on my LEFT then that can worsen the problem but if I sleep predominately on my right side...most of the night, then gravity helps pull the curve more correctly back in place.

Now just MAYBE, if your wife has had neck problems, then the sleeping patterns can actually worsen a curvature and that can pinch nerves and cut off blood flow to the brain...resulting in headaches. If you put your fingers on the base of the back of skull and gently pressure point down, if she responds with declaring sensitivity to that touch, then she has a neck issue....or if she is very tight on one side of neck beginning at base of skull and down a few inches to her shoulder, more tight on one side, then she likely has vertebra out of alignment.

So if that case sleeping on the OPPOSITE side of the out of aligned vertebra CAN help. If so, and if she goes to a Chiropractor...because such a condition is chronic...do not let the Doctor put her head in his hand and let him twist the head...that movement is Counter productive.

She needs a doctor who places her head face down on a "drop table" and slightly adjusts the out of place vertebra back to normal...with the head rest dropping about one third of an inch. He moves the vertebra that is out back in place. See the difference? That technique is called the Pierce Method. Call different doctors ... one out of four or five practice the Pierce move.

Vanessw,

I often wake up with a morning, non-migraine headache that can progress to ruin my day. A while back I read on the ailments, migraines, gunpowder tea (page 7) (on ailments topics listed at the top of this page) about drinking green gunpowder tea for migraines. I drink it first thing every morning, plain unsweetened, and it takes away the headache so I can move on with my day. No adverse side effects and is good for the body, too.

EC: Here is the feedback on gunpowder tea for migraines.

I would recommend your wife see a chiropractor who can address the cervical region. Over time, the cervical curvature becomes more straight. This can cause chronic migraines and headaches. She will likely know within a couple weeks whether the adjustments are working. I would just get adjustments and nothing else.

I would also recommend she take Biocell HA/Collagen or some similar that absorbs well into the body to replenish the nutrients in the spinal column especially if she is over age 50. What can happen is that the spacing between discs can decrease and start rubbing against each other.

Try something simple, warm water, sea salt and lime or lemon water. She could be dehydrated.

I use to have morning headaches for many years - for me it was simple. I took out almost 90% of the processed food in my diet and that did the trick. Sugar and wheat were the culprits in my system. I don't think that everyone realizes that by cleaning up our diets, our bodies will feel better....this one lifestyle change for me made all the difference with my morning headaches.

Thank you for the advise, guys! The gunpowder tea is very interesting. We'll try this one when the herbal formula my wife is currently taking will not work as promised. So far, she's been doing good with it. I agree that changing her lifestyle also helped. Again, thank you so much! Happy New Year!
