How to Prevent Scarring Around Chalazion on Lower Inner Eyelid

Posted By Chris (New Orleans) on 11/26/2023

Hello! I'm wondering if anyone else has had an issue where the chalazion hardened and potentially scarred. I've read that the eyelid can form fibrous tissue and scar around the blocked gland to essentially isolate it. I'm worried that this scar tissue now is a part of my inner eyelid because the lump seems essentially fused to the membrane of the inner eyelid rather than how I imagine some internal cyst that is moveable and needs to be drained. I haven't had surgery and haven't seen a specialist.

Most of the scarring I read about is due to surgery, not due to the chalazion itself. Tried warm compresses, castor oil, apple cider vinegar, massage...nothing seems to budge...part of me is wondering if this is just scar tissue at this point, that there is nothing actually needed to drain. That scares me a lot. It's created a noticeable lump and line right under my eyeline, which looks particularly bad with lighting from above or looking from below. Any pointers for natural remedies to break down already formed scar tissue on the eyelids? It's been almost 6 weeks and I am definitely self conscious about this. I imagine natural remedies for breaking down already established scar tissue is different from scar tissue prevention post-surgery.
