Help! Scabies That Stings

Help! Scabies that stings

I am going through a multiple infestation for the past 2 months.

Somehow they picked on me while my immune system was low.

I've been cleaning everyday, washing bedsheets at 90 degrees (drying in the sun), I have been boiling for 30 min pajamas and clothes.

While I am almost done treating Sarcoptes scabiei, for the past 3 weeks I am still dealing with some kind of different scabies, from animals. It is black, it clings on feet and it stings. Help! Even my hair stings.

How to get rid of these?

Washing floors with disinfectant, spraying bleach solution doesn't seem to affect them.

The sulphur cream I'm using to treat Sarcoptes scabiei doesn't seem to bother these either. What are they???

HEEELP!

Hi Alisa

I went through Scabies, the thing that killed them was Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth. It will kill ticks, fleas, mites, ants and most all insects.I had mine on the hands and every night I would put the powder all over my hands and wear plastic gloves all night. It took a few weeks to kill them. Did you know they hatch a million babies every 3 weeks.

It really works, make sure it is FOOD Grade Diatomaceous Earth.

God Bless

Gary

I am using Diatomaceous Earth to sprinkle around my bed.

But the horror is in the bathroom. It is a wet, moist environment and Diatomaceous Earth doesn't work there.

Plus, it hurts my lungs if I sprinkle it everywhere.

Please, anybody has any idea what am I up against? scabies that stings.

Please help!

Alisa,

According to the following study cinnamon essential oil (CEO) inhibits scabies at just 1% concentration and is effective at killing. The essential oil lemon grass has ovicidal effects at 5%. So while the CEO can kill the scabies, it can not kill the eggs, but lemon grass EO can kill the eggs and if it can kill the eggs, that means a lot less applications will be required to get rid of the scabies.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9788335/#:~:text=Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) EO has, scabiei.

Here is a relevant quote from the study :

' EOs can be considered from a green perspective, and represent an easy tool, being biodegradable, with low ecotoxicity and minimal environmental residual activity due to their high volatility [92]. Their application in the treatment of scabies seems versatile, having shown that some EOs (i.e., cinnamon and tulsi) have very low MIC values, others (lemongrass), along with some terpenes (geraniol, eugenol and citral), also exhibit ovicidal effects, while some are effective both by contact and in fumigant form (ahibero) [38]. '

Based on this study, perhaps a combination of lemon grass EO and cinnamon EO at the percent that they mentioned for each could be added to a carrier such as 50% rubbing alcohol or gin and used as a spray or direct topical application in your bathroom while wearing appropriate and effective breathing apparatus to protect your lungs.

Thank you so much.

I am using coconut oil with oregano Essential Oil on my body.

I just don't know how long I should wait before putting clothes on.

I'll try a spray in rubbing alcohol or vinegar for these b-----ds.

Plus, I don't know where they are coming from.

I always find some in the sink or bathtub, although I make sure to clean using bleach or disinfectant spray.

I never leave shower without at least rinsing it.

Are they coming from the sewerage? Can they survive there?

Maybe they enter the window, through the mosquito net? (7th floor building)

Are they hiding under the vanity?

If anybody has more insights, please add here. Any info is useful.

Alisa,

The scabies are living on you, so everywhere you go, there they are. If you don't kill the eggs also, they will continue to return even if you kill all of the the mites on you and around you. The eggs will survive and will reinfest you and your surroundings again. Using an essential oil to kill the scabies and another oil to kill the eggs is a very positive step toward ridding your scabies infestation. The following link describes how the scabies survive on your body, but not very well off of the body :

https://www.cdc.gov/parasites/scabies/gen_info/faqs.html#:~:text=considered highly contagious.-, How long can scabies mites live?, °F) for 10 minutes.

Here is a relevant quote :

' On a person, scabies mites can live for as long as 1-2 months. Off a person, scabies mites usually do not survive more than 48-72 hours. Scabies mites will die if exposed to a temperature of 50°C (122°F) for 10 minutes. '

What you have been doing is clearly not working for you. Continuing to do the same or variants of the same will not change the results.

I appreciate your answer, very well documented.

As I mentioned in my first post, I am going through a multiple infestation.

One is Sarcoptes scabiei, the "human" type, which I've been treating using Sulphur cream. Quite efficiently. I'm almost out of it.

The other type of scabies is the scary one.

and I don't know exactly what it is. I was hoping for some help in that regard.

I am aware of what you are going through. Sounds like you are having a great measure of success. And, you are adequately treating your clothes, many miss this.

Having multiple "killers" on hand works well and for different situations.

This is what we used to get rid of them (using one, a few, all of them or alternating them):

SKIN

1. Ivermectin Regimen

3% Ivermectin cream with 10% DMSO in versa base (or similar).

Get a 4 oz tub from compounding pharmacy.

Rub cream in very well to dry clean skin & apply it twice waiting for the first coat to dry before applying the second.

Ideally, do this 2-4X daily.

Faster results obtained when also taking Ivermectin orally. Amount depends upon your health condition. Typical dose for a healthy adult is 12-18 mg depending on size. If health is compromised, may need to double, triple or quadruple this amount in order to absorb the therapeutic dose (many ill people have significant absorption issues). Check with you physician.

Some have use other ivermectin derivatives on the skin successfully.

2. SULFUR REGIMEN

(Obtained from well known older Dermatologist - back when Dermatologists used to actually "cure" and accurately identify parasitic/ectoparasitic skin diseases): 10% sulfur cream 2-3X daily & 10% Sulfur/3% salicylic soap bar twice daily & take Sulfur & Neem orally 2-3X/day (optional).

Apply cream 3-4x daily. Best results when using cream along with the sulfur soap (10% sulfur/3% salicylic acid). use the soap twice daily and when using it soak the bar in hot water for a 5 minutes because the active ingredients are activated when it becomes a very thick lather on the skin. Must leave this lather on the skin a minimum 10 minutes then rinse and repeat. The lather must remain wet to be active so one must rub more water or soap onto the skin to maintain moisture. Best to leave soap on the skin for 15 minutes then repeat. The longer the soap is on the skin the faster the results. Best results obtained when using the soap regimen twice daily.

Note: the salicylic acid acts as a biofilm/dead skin remover and preps the organisms & your skin so that the sulfur reaches them better.

3. EmuaidMAX

Kills mites and scabies and their co-pathogens (bacteria, fungus, molds, viruses). To work effectively, one must rub this salve in VERY well and you only need a bit of it. Apply 3-4X daily or more as needed. Will take a week or longer to kill all the eggs under the skin. Apply to dry clean skin.

4. DIATOMACEOUS EARTH - DE (the real stuff)

When using this on animals or your skin you MUST rub it in very well in order to be effective. This is a drawing agent and a desiccant. Use this multiple times throughout the day. In the morning or night, you can wash DE off and apply Ivermectin, let it dry, and then you can apply more DE or something else.

DE raises the organisms to the surface of the skin and starts to dry them out. Then, when applying a "killing" cream, the cream is now able to coat the organisms and kill them. It usually takes two applications to kill the exposed organisms.

You can rotate between these 4 items, use them together synergistically or simply use one that is very broad spectrum such as the EmuaidMAX alone. Also, you can alternate them - e.g., apply Emuaid then an hour or so later apply the Ivermectin - these two must be used a minimum twice daily.

Note: often there is a type of biofilm on the skin which can prevent the creams from working as well as they could. Diatomaceous earth, enzymes, vinegars, lemon juice, orange essential oil, alcohols, etc... can work to remove some of these. Experiment to see which one may work for your condition.

I have found that when using DE, good results are obtained when using it twice daily, briskly rubbed into the skin. Usually see good results within 1-3 weeks depending on the issues. Often, deeply embedded infections will rise to the surface of the skin so that it can be removed.

Often you will need to physically remove or deeply rub out the organisms.

ENVIRONMENT

1. 91% ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL

Kills all of these bugs. However, it will destroy wooden finishes & leather and, if applied to the skin, it is carcinogenic and allows flukes in the body to hyper-breed. So, do not get this on your skin, do not inhale it, and only spray inert surfaces - e.g., countertops, floors, clothes, door handles, light switches, furniture, bags, purses, wallets, inside/outside car where you touch the handles and seat belt, etc....

It is helpful to cover "cleaned" furniture with plastic covers while dealing with this so you do not have to repeat clean.

2. ENZYME SPRAYS

Kills most of these bugs and is non-toxic. You can also spray your skin with this and it will remove biofilm. Can spray everything with this. There are a few parasites that this will not kill though, from what you are describing, this will work. E.g. (Kleen Green). The residue will also repel many insects.

3. DIATOMACEOUS EARTH

Kills and repels. Can add boric acid to this.

Note: many brands that are sold are diluted with fillers and do not work well.

4. AIR PURIFICATION/TREATMENT

Foggers, Electrostatic Foggers or Essential Oil Diffusers, etc....

Essential oils, enzyme solutions, cedar solutions, etc... have all been used successfully. Can spray furniture, walls, floors, etc....

Can leave an essential oil on in the bedroom overnight or all day.

5. ESSENTIAL OILS

There are many single essential oils and mixtures that kill scabies and mites and other insects in the environment and on the skin. Some insecticidal oils include: geranium, lavender, oregano, thyme, clove, cedar, eucalyptus, tea tree, thieves mixed with oregano/peppermint/lavender, Purification, peppermint (kills larvae), orange, lemon, citronella, catmint, etc...

Often mix with a carrier oil, grain alcohol, DMSO, aloe vera, distilled water, carrier oil (Black Seed oil, Neem oil, Emu oil, Coconut oil), etc....

6. PETS

Treat your animals (e.g., weekly lime sulfur dips for a month and oral anti parasitics, DE, ...). As with humans, sick animals often have malabsorption issues and do not absorb therapeutic amounts of medications, so more must be given or IV, IM.

Do not kiss animals, do not sleep with animals, do not let animals lick you, always wash hands after touching animals, keep animals out of bedrooms/bathrooms/kitchens completely, etc.... Remember, most of the eggs and cysts from these insects and other parasites are microscopic and easily float in the air when the animal shakes it coat. These eggs/cysts land on everything and are inhaled.

Can spray or bathe animals with various enzyme solutions. Then apply DE to coat.

7. VACUUM VACUUM VACUUM VACUUM (hepa filter)

8. For a while, change sheets often and do not wear clothing more than once.

Like you are doing, try to find the source (wild animals in attic, nests near home, pets, bringing home from work environment, visiting other people's homes, other animals coming to your yard, ....). Gardeners and farmers often pick up odd ectoparasites and flukes from snails.

Though, re-infection occurs until all the areas you have touched have been treated which is why this is called "the gift that keeps on giving".

Work the environment in sections, starting with the most important/used rooms and objects first (e.g, bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, door knobs and wall switches). Make sure you have treated your skin and clothing before returning to "cleaned areas" - e.g., go to bed after you have applied ivermectin cream to skin or sprayed your entire body with enzyme spray.

Hmmm not an expert but sounds like Morgellons.

Those bugs like a bathroom. Art and earth clinic has spray you mix up, get stuff on Amazon. Ammonium chloride and EDTA. I used in bathroom, as I had a case of some mite.

Spray entire bathroom including ceiling. Important ceiling!

Neem capsules and pinch of household borax helped me too.

Both anti bug and work from inside out.

Bugs hate sulphur so get sulphur soap.

Wash everything with borax and use high heat.

You could try Nustock ointment. It’s meant for horses but people can use. It’s a huge tube. And it is highly stinky but you could coat yourself with it, let it sit then shower.

Thank you, guys. You are a gold resource.

I think I have found a source: the shower battery. It has one plastic cap which got loose and I removed it. They were hiding inside!

I keep spraying bleach solution there, but I think they are coming from drainage as well. Not sure how to handle that. All neighbors from the column should have the same issue, right?

I changed the shower curtain from a textile type to a plastic one. Less for them to cling on.

Changed the shower hose, from a swirly metal type to a neat plastic one.

Still, each time I approach the sink, my feet get stung (through the socks). I spray bleach solution through the bathroom, maybe I should spray as I enter the bathroom.

The balcony might be a source too, but it is opened and I can't do much there. It has been sprayed already, it kills any crawling bug.

I sprinkled borax at the balcony door. Should I sprinkle also in the bathroom? Under vanity? Will it still work once borax gets wet?

I feel as if the house is attacking me, very disturbing.

MiisM, please give more details about the spray you used. Percentage of each substance etc.

I am not located in America, I'll try to find a match or mix them myself.

You might be on to something! These bugs are beasts! Look like spiders, eat through clothing and burrow under the skin! Horrible! No wonder people report fibers coming through their skin!

And yes, they climb everywhere.

I need to kill them ASAP!

Thanks!

Dear Sherri,

Thank you for your detailed post.

May I ask what kind of gloves to wear around the house, to protect myself?

Inspection gloves are out of question, they become useless when a drop of sweat or water touches them. Then the microbes travel right through them.

Unfortunately, I cannot get Ivermectin. I live in Romania, I can't buy even rosacea face cream without prescription. It is a medicine that is simply not available for humans. Only vet pharmacies carry the pills and only with prescriptions.

I was able to purchase a lice treatment with 1% Ivermectin (at a very high price) but unsure how to use it for scabies. How long should I keep it?

I still have it on my face and scalp. The body is all wrapped up in sulphur cream, so there I am protected. But face and scalp?

Replied by Share (Seattle) on 08/21/2023

Hello,

If you are able to use 1% Ivermectin cream, apply it three times to the affected areas allowing it do dry inbetween each application. Try to do this twice a day. Can also apply this to the face and scalp. Try to allow the cream to stay on your skin for 12 hours before reapplying.

If using DE rub it in very well and try to use it twice daily or more often. Can use it on face and scalp. Leave overnight.

One can also apply sulfur creams to the face and scalp. Leave overnight.

Using clove and/or peppermint essential oils neat (straight with nothing else added) will kill scabies mites. Can apply a carrier oil over these oils after waiting a minute or two. Best to first dilute these essential oils if you have never used them before. Try a 25% mixture first then gradually increase the concentration if needed. Try to use neem oil, emu oil, jojoba, aloe vera or other anti parasitic/anti insect carrier oils to dilute the essential oils with.

Wearing rubber gloves or other plastic-type gloves are best to use. You can frequently spray or clean these gloves as you wear them with 91% isopropyl, enzyme sprays, bleach, etc...

You might be dealing with bird mites. Get some TJ cedar and sage cleaner off of Amazon. Spray it on floors and baseboards. Let it dry. The balcony too. Turn down the thermostat in the fall.

Alisa,

Try Neem oil. It doesn’t smell good, but works. I used Neem seed oil. Drinking Neem leaf tea is good too.

@Katherine,

How do you use it?

Apply on face and body? Do you combine it with a different oil?

How many times per day?
