How Can I Reduce High Ferritin Levels?

Posted By Janen99 (Riverside Ca) on 09/12/2016

I'm new to this site and OT quite sure how it works yet, but I recently had blood work done and my Ferritin level was 484 and the normal range is 10-232. My dr is referring me to a GI Dr. Does anyone have any ideas to reduce the iron in my blood. My liver enzymes were elevated to, about 52 for the 2 kinds. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank u, Jane

The traditional method for lower iron is to give blood, but since your Liver enzymes are elevated it is possible you have Hepatitis, so do get checked for Hep. before giving blood.

The nutritional supplement IP-6 is a natural chelator of Iron so you can try it.

Getting back to the Liver. There are many very helpful natural remedies for Liver support & health. For a good start go to www.liversupport.com.

Donate blood as often as possible. Once a week would be good. This is how my husband's doctors treated this condition. Look up hemochromatosis.

Cabbage is a natural chelator of iron. About a cup a day will keep the iron away!
