Need Remedies for High CA 19-9

Posted By Diane (Torrance, Ca) on 10/08/2016

Hi. I have learned so much on this site that I wish I had known before my sister passed away with cancer. It runs in my family and it is all types. I have a concern and hope someone can help me. I have periods of swelling in my legs and ankles and have been telling my gyn and medical physicals for a while. Well recently my legs was so swollen with like pitting edema and I went to my doctor.

To make a long story short, I asked her to run labs on my CA markers since I have lost two sisters with cancer within a year. She told me if I have any signs of cancer I would have signs of weight lost, but I didn't. So she ran the labs anyway and my CA 19-9 came back 43.7. Can anyone give me a suggestion on what I can do to heal myself...please. Or can someone tell me if the baking soda remedy is a good start.

Dianne (Torrance, Ca),

The CA 19/9 marker is generally used as just one test for various forms of cancer, but is frequently looked at for pancreatic cancer and you are above the reference range of 0 to 37, but an elevated level can also be caused by gallstones, a blockage of the bile duct, liver disease, cystic fibrosis or pancreatitis. Given the potential danger associated with this marker, your doctor needs to do more testing to determine the cause for the elevated level. Until that is done, you are just guessing at the cause and potentially losing valuable time. The swollen ankles is also associated with many other health conditions, so again further testing by your doctor to determine the cause is needed.
