Remedies needed for hypothyroidism

Posted By Cindy (Ensenada, US) on 09/26/2014

I am reading thru the different responses on hypothyroidism, I was diagnosed some years ago with that. For me it's like trying to find order after a bomb.

My kidneys were damaged in the womb, the tea didn't cause an abortion, just damaged my kidneys. So I grew up with infections and problems of various kinds. Allergic to sulfa drugs so they gave me steady doses of antibiotics until I was old enough to take control. So now add candida and all the other things to this. then I suddenly gained a bunch of weight and tests showed Hypothyroidis. But as they tried to find medication and dosage to work it was just making it worse. So I stopped. Addressing things I knew I could. A Dr helped me with my kidneys by getting me off the antibiotics and a natural approach including stop eating meat since my kidneys just weren't able to really handle the work. I have been vegetarian almost 30 years now And only had one serious 'bout' of kidney failure after taking medication Dr prescribed that was strong. I got through that.

I did have an opportunity to see an Iridologygist (?) checked my eyes and told me my health problems. He said something interesting about my thyroid. He told me that my thyroid was technically fine, but that it was clogged. To find the key to clearing that out would be the answer to my thyroid health. Which made sense then that when I took thyroid medicine it made it worse. I am reacting to different things and I can tell by getting worse. I have been on and off a raw diet over the last 5 years. It's the only diet that I will lose weight on. But, after a while, it stops, I may gain back like 5-10 pounds and pretty much just stays there. I need to lose 60 or so, I will lose like 25. I also feel better for a while, more energy, then that stops, goes back to needing naps in the afternoons. Not 30 minutes, but up to 2 hours. If I go off the raw diet I gain all the weight back. I am reading through info here and have now started with ACV and organic molasses. I have tried at different times adding iodine in different forms, nothing. Iron, nothing. Recently my hair was falling out pretty badly and I am so tired. My nails are bad, temperature changes bother me. I gained back about 5 pounds after being raw since February (7 months) and losing about 30 pounds. I feel like I am going round in circles.

Any suggestions will be welcomed and investigated. I am starting to look into Chinese medicine, but I am on my own and with my kidneys have to be really careful with what I put on them. I did the 10 day lemon cleanse and at day six had severe kidney pain, bubbles in my urine and was curled up in bed for two days. So I have to watch even simple cleanses.

Cindy: Your Thyroid will respond to direct or topical treatment. I have posted these options before but I guess that there are so many pages of post and too little time for the reading.

Anyway, treatment option #1 is burst a 10, 000iu Vit-A softgel between your teeth and let the oil slowly drain down your throat. Wait 30 min and suck a Zinc Lozenge and it too will directly be absorbed into the thyroid same as the A and greatly strengthen the gland.

If this trtmt doesn't do the trick place a refrigerator magnet directly over each gland several minutes daily.

You may be able to kill two birds with one stone.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA). (I used the Tonalin brand)

It is one of the few things that have been proven to help with weight loss and may address hypothyroidism issues.

There was a period when my metabolism broke. I couldn't lose any weight with diet or exercise. I decided to give CLA a shot. I never tool a thyroid test or anything so didn't know the state of that.

When I took the CLA , it took 7-8 months for me to notice it was working for FAT weight. Probably because I had very chronically ill health. It required no exercise. For healthier people it tends to work quicker. It will likely take way less time for most other people if it is going to work. I have given it to 4 people. In 3 people it worked. The 4th person just quit taking early on probably because they were impatient.

I remember about 7 months into taking it that I felt different getting out of bed one day. I just felt different. It took me a while to think it may be less flab. I didn't lose weight but I felt light. I realized I was losing the fat when I pinched my stomach. I wasn't even thinking of weight loss. It just became a ritual taking the CLA so I didn't think too much about it. My research told me I just had to keep loading it in my body every day. Every couple days after that I felt trimmer and trimmer. I knew it was working after that. Eventually I had no waist fat. I can pretty much eat what I want. I take 2-3 capsules for maintenance. In those rare time I eat at a buffet, I would take 5 or 6.

There was even a study which said that it helps process the fructose in a more healthy way. This is why I take it with any carbohydrates especially sweets. Some studies say it would help prevent diabetes although other studies have contradicted this. Empirically l think it does.

THIS IS IMPORTANT. You don?t use a weight scale to see if you shed pounds. Pinching the fat and seeing how many inches there is is more reliable method because weight scales don?t separate fat weight and muscle weight. Muscle weighs more. I actually weigh 35+ pounds more but my body is more slimmer. I am 60 6'2" 245lbs. Muscle weighs more because it is dense but looks slim. It hasn't creating any bulging muscles either. I can go up to 260 and still look very slim so don't worry about weight fluctuation.

I noticed weight gain at the beginning but that is a tip off that it was probably working. This will scare people. Most people will stop it and give up because their weight scale tells them it?s not working. Some things require patience. This isn't like those other weight loss stuff.

IMPORTANT: A weight scale can't tell you what is happening to the composition of your body.

The only downside to CLA is that it is gotten from safflower seed oil. The ideal CLA would be gotten from grass fed animals. It would be more safer and healthier kind because most research of CLA is based on that kind. The downside to grass fed derived CLA is that it is expensive.

There are cases where some people have problems with their livers while taking CLA but that tends to be rare. We don't know if they were on medications. Many people on medications will have a negative reaction to astaxanthin and other supplements. Some people do well with coconut oil but then their health gets worse and needs to stop. We don't know why. It is just something to be aware of. There is risk in any supplement.

I try to get people to replace their medications with more natural methods. If their motivated, most people usually can.

One must take it with their meals either during or after. You want to load your body with it. Take the full dose also. I took 6 capsules a day. You could take more.I won't claim this will cure all weight problems because there are many causes for weight gain. Some people will remove gluten from their diet and they will become slim and healthy. It could be the medications someone is taking causing the problem. Anyone attempting to lose weight must experiment with different things and be like a detective.

Whats good about you is that you mention hypothyroidism. That has been mentioned in scientific studies with CLA. So there is a good chance it may work in you.

CLA changes the shape of your body. It removes waist from places people don't want it and can build up places where you do want it.

The conventional mantra in weight loss is - you MUST diet and MUST exercise. Try telling that to a chronically ill person who can hardly get out of bed or hardly make it out the door. People with joint problems aren't going to be able to exercise. The list is endless on why people can't exercise so most weight loss advice is useless.

There is no MUST. You MUST address the underlying issues that keep that weight on. CLA may do that in many ways especially for more sicker people.

For chronically ill people trying to lose fat weight but can't exercise, this may be your ticket.

Priorus, Muscle does not weigh more than fat. A pound of fat and a pound of muscle both weigh a pound!

You are correct when you say that muscle is more dense/takes up more space, but a pound of muscle 'weighs' the same as a pound of fat.

That said, I am a good example of what you were referring to. I am 5'9 (female/medium frame) and weigh 162, which sounds like a lot, but I only wear a size 8.

I weigh 162 because I work out and have lean muscle, so the 162 is deceiving. It's not fat, it's muscle. When people hear what I weigh, they say; "Get outta here! You're slim/trim. No way you weigh 162! "

So, what I think you were trying to point out, is that when you have lean muscle (vs. fat) you can weigh more but look like you weigh less. And you would be correct! :)

In response to: >Priorus, Muscle does not weigh more than fat. A pound of fat and a pound of muscle both weigh a pound!

Technically you're right. Got me there. LOL. I'll be chuckling about that for the rest of the day. I am glad to hear that you look slim at a very heavy weight also.

I hope more people will realize that weight loss should not necessarily be the objective. People should just realize that it is possible for one to LOOK slim with more weight. Changing your body composition will do that. Plus muscle will help burn up fat. You are additional proof that one can look slim at heavy weight. If someone loses 10 lbs of weight and it is all muscle then that is a failing weight loss program.
