Remedies Needed for Hand Dermatitis

Posted By Qubeman (Virginia Beach, Va, United States) on 05/18/2010

I am writing because I am trying to figure out a solution to help cure this hand dermatitis. I've went to a dermatologist and he suggested that I use steroid creams. This is really affecting my social life and I really don't like going any where without my hands being covered. It's so embarrasing. Please help.

You are probably having a reaction to chemicals in the soap. If I use any hand soap, I get contact dermatitis. My hands crack, split, and bleed - not to mention the horrid rash. Anyway, get a natural soap that has no sulfates, parabens, propylene glycol, fragrance, etc. Put it in a soap carrier and use it where ever you go. Follow up by moisturizing your hands with just a plain oil or shea butter or cocoa butter. Keep it super simple. Your hands will heal!

Also, try rubbing a little lemon juice on hands, when you have it..the acid helps restore ph balance. I had this from detergents for many years--solution?: Rubber gloves whenever possible, lemon juice and, as has been said, natural soap products. Haven't had problem for years!

Thanks so much for suggesting the nautural soap to carry with you. I have been wearing gloves to wash dishes but needed to avoid other soaps a well. I have been having super luck with the lemons too. My hands are finally healing. I have also been using the steroid cream from dermalologist but it wasn't going away. Thanks!
