Remedies for double vision from Grave's Disease: You've asked about surgery for double vision; my son had surgery done for a crossed eye due to amblyopia. He flew to CA to have it done, and I must say it has been successful! For the first time in his life of 43 yrs he has binocular vision w/o the aid of glasses. My email is ladylauranwaco(at)yahoo(dot)com. If someone wants to know the name of the doctor he used I am sure I can find it out for you. His insurance paid for the surgery, so all he was out was money for a limo (cheaper than a taxi), motel, and plane fare.Replied by Kathy (Manhattan Beach, Ca) on 03/19/2011
I had double vision and severely protruded eyes since July 09, and after the surgery for orbital decompression my eyes now look almost back to normal!! More importantly, the surgery corrected the double vision as well!
It was well worth it to go through the surgery. I looked drastically improved within just 2 weeks! If you have severely protuded eyes, don't put off a consultation with an oculoplastic surgeon that specializes in Graves Disease.

I am replying to Bobbi from Hickory, NC, about his double vision.
The thyroid disease that you have is the main reason for your double vision, you have to treat your thyroid to get rid of those symptoms, you do not need any surgery in my opinion. I have hyperactive thyroid and double vision is part of my symptoms too- I have a double vision especially when I am tired or even in the morning. I know it is very weird thing and it gives you a huge discomfort. I am treating my thyroid disease with a Bugleweed and I have less of those horrible double vision symptoms right now. You do not need any surgery - treat your thyroid properly and your double vision will go away.
Good luck, palomaReplied by Wishingyouwell (Gentle Earth, Ks) on 04/03/2011
You may also find help looking online re: copper for hyperthyroidism. Caution! If you use copper you really really really have to read about it before you ingest it. Copper has to be taken with other nutrients and in the corrects ratios. Autoimmune disorders may be more prevalent in women due to poor copper assimilation which may cause other nutrients to become depleted also. ithyroid has great info on this.
Wishing you all the best in your healing journeys!
