Remedies needed for daughters constipation

Posted By Tanya (Nashville, TN) on 09/27/2014

Hi! From past 6 months, my daughter is having constipation, she goes only when I give laxatives. Also she coughs after eating, lastly she has started developing environmental allergies. When I give her apple cider vinegar with water she will be fine. Can you suggest anything that will heal her .Are Swedish bitters safe for children?

Dear Tayna,

How old is your daughter? You say that Apple Cider Vinegar is helpful to her when she is having trouble?

A few ounces of prune juice each day, or a couple of prunes may help her.

A cup of epsom salt in the bath (soak/play for 20 minutes or so.) at night may also be helpful to her. Alternately, Natural Calm, a magnesium supplement, in some water once a day may help a lot. The amount you give would depend on her age.

When I hear coughing after eating and constipation, I wonder about a dairy intolerance. You could reduce milk products for a time and see if that helps both problems.

Our family has found nettle leaf tea to be very helpful for allergies.

Everything in your post says that her colon flora is not healthy. I would try a good probiotic. I would concentrate on one with good delivery method.

Experiment probiotics that use Bio-tract deliver method and Beads (pearls) delivery method.

This looks like a Liver/Galbladder issue. Check the "ailments" section for similar symptoms and reports.
