Natural Remedies and Meds Not Helping Topical Lichen Planus

Posted By Nickole (Muscle Shoals, Alabama) on 01/22/2016

I have been diagnosed with lichens planus. It has presented itself topically on my feet, ankles, wrists, and lips. Most of what I have read on here has been for vaginal LS. Is there anyone out there with info for LS on the skin? The itching at night time is almost unbearable. I am embarrsed for the lesions on my skin to be seen because I get looked at as if I am a leper. I have explained its autoimmune and not contagious but people still look at me as though they are afraid it might get on them.

I have tried topical steroid creams, coconut oil, sarna lotion all topically with no real relief. When it gets especially bad the dermatologist will give me oral steroids to take which does help withthe itching and appearance but about 2 weeks after I finish the round of oral steroids it comes back with a vengance.

Please if there is someone out there who has been able to get this condition under control please let me know what you have done. At this point I would be willing to try anything. Thanks in advance

My late husband had Topical Lichens Planus on his forearm after a visit to a Veterans' clinic. I applied Colloidal Silver 20ppm, any brand will work, over his forearm with a spray bottle, and the itching stopped immediately. A few hours later, I also applied Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera, and the lesions seemed moisturized and softened. The next day the lesions were smaller and not as red, and the itching had not returned. After his shower, I sprayed more colloidal silver on, and after it dried, I dabbled more witch hazel on with a cotton pad. We kept this routine going for about 4 days, and the lesions were reduced to slightly darker spots which eventually faded away. SUCCESS!! THANK THE LORD!! P.s. Our neighbor is a registered nurse, and she suggested the rash was Lichens Planus. We went with that instead of waiting 2 months for an appointment with the VA clinic...which would not have resulted with anything but a diagnosis...end of story.
