Question is there a way to shrink thyroid size

Posted By Anna (Kansas City, US) on 04/21/2014

Hello. I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease (hyperthyroid) shortly after the birth of my daughter five years ago. It was treated with Tapazole, meditation, an increase in cooked cruciferous vegetables, stopped using iodized salt, and a major decrease in stress levels. After two years of treatment I am happy to report I am no longer on any medication (the doctors were very surprised), but I still have an enlarged thyroid gland that is unsightly. Any ideas on how to shrink the thyroid back to normal size without increasing my thyroid levels?

Dear Anna,

Good job healing your hyperthyroid!

Regarding reducing the size of the thyroid gland, I would consider charcoal poultices and/or castor oil. You can make a charcoal poultice and apply it over the thyroid overnight. Castor oil could be rubbed directly onto the swollen area. We have seen castor oil reduce swollen glands, so it seems like it might be worth a try on the thyroid gland. You could use use the castor oil twice a day, or do the castor oil in the morning and the charcoal poultice at night. It could take a few weeks to see a difference.

Here is how to make a charcoal poultice:

I would look into only drinking reverse osmosis filtered water and avoid anything else with fluoride in it.
