Probiotics for Yeast Infections

Posted By Bret (Phoenix, Arizona) on 06/27/2008

Anybody: I have always had a question about vaginal yeast and probiotics. I had a doctor in an infirmary at a girl's correctional facility who prescribed yogurt every time a youth was placed on antibiotics. Now, I know eating floral bacteria replaces intestinal bacteria, but can someone explain to me how bacteria can start in the digestive tract and end up in the vagina.

I have read that instead of eating yogurt you actually insert it into your vagina. One way to do this is by getting a rubber glove and filling the fingers with plain yogurt, then freezing the glove. You remove one of the yogurt molds from the glove and just insert it into your vagina. You are supposed to continue this for several days until the side effects begin to subside.

It works faster than yeast cream. It's best to have an old quality applicator. Not a cheap one. You suck it through the applicator to the top then insert it. Make sure you wear a mini pad though. You will ha ve to do it a few times, and I also recommend an inexpensive cream. But for fast relief, plain yogurt...no fruit, no low fat. Enjoy~

Hello from Ontario Canada, I am 43, I have fibromyalgia (ME), hormonal imbalances due to failing adrenals ( I finally found a doctor to test my hormones and we are trying to fix the imbalance), and have suffered yeast infections all my life. 15 mths ago I started what I thought was "just another yeast infection" but sadly I am stuck with some sort of overgrowth I believe is yeast and can NOT get relief. I have seen Many doctors, no treatment has worked. (All vaginal swabs are negative)I am reactive to all yeast creams OTC, prescriptions steriod creams do nothing. I have followed a strict diet for a year, I have vaginal thrush so bad I cannot walk!! I feel like my life is over and I cannot leave the house. The skin erosion vaginally is horrid. I am on a flucanozole 200mg a day with blood test done for liver damage monthly. I have used ACV, ALoe Vera, coconut oil, supplements etc etc. I have read millions of emails and suggestions. I am convinced that I became so sick last year, whatever this is, (bacteria or yeast) it has taken over. I have no doctors that seem to take this seriously. I cannot find a specialist in "yeast" that has treated these complex issues here in Ontario Canada.

I am trying all I can on my own, and will do whatever I need to do, however I feel like I am sinking in an overwhelming sea of "remedies" and I fear I will never find quidance in this area. Does ANYONE that has had horrible vaginal thrush, so bad the skin peels off with any movement have ANY suggestions of what I can put on externally to help with the regrowth of skin? I also know I am "full" of some invader... Bacteria or yeast or both... Do probiotics cause BV? Is it safe to take for vaginal thrush AND Bacteria vaginous? What strains are best??... Everyone says something different?? I am trying to find help and am very open to natural ways, however I am so sick my search for help in my town is limited. Please someone, help me?? Please tell me there is hope..... And any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for a great site... I have spent hours on here... By far one of the best site I have found yet!!!!!!! Need help north of Toronto CANADA

Dear Bailey 444, if I take antibiotics I usually get thrush, so yet another reason to avoid antibiotics. I usually use canestan, drink chamomile tea, as well as applying chamomile topically, then vaseline for comfort. Also immediately take probiotics, acidophilus etc. Hope this helps, it clears it in a couple of days for me.

I use pretty much the same for infections mainly because doctors choose to treat me for infections which is in all reality a bacterial infection; antibiotics does make matters much worse. Also I found a great oil just by pure luck it's Neem seed oil, I have been having severe pain under my left breast area so every day for a week or so I put this oil under there and absolutely no more pain, it does come back but not as bad so I re-apply and again feel great.

Vitamin B6 is very effective for Candida/yeast/thrush infections. Start at 50 mg per day and if you have no side-effects, try 100mg per day.
