Seeking Safe Natural Cures for Dermoid Ovarian Cyst While Pregnant

Posted By Amhorton (Los Angeles, California) on 08/19/2015

I am 15 weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with a 4.8cm dermoid ovarian cyst. My doctor suggests just watching it for now, but I am terrified it might cause my ovaries to twist and endanger my baby. Does anyone have any natural cures for dermoid ovarian cysts? I would like to know what you all think. I am desperate to do anything possible to help my cyst go away while still keeping my baby safe.

Iodoral, an iodine supplement, is known to help dissolve ovarian cysts and breast cysts as well. You can cut the tabs in half when you start and see how it goes. Most women are very low in iodine because it's not in our food/water supplies and when it is there are things like flouride and mercury which kick out iodine. Google it for more info.

Dear Amhorton,

Unfortunately, there is not a lot of information about natural cures for a dermoid cysts. One lady on this forum tried many things with mixed results.

Many things that might be tried for a cyst would not be recommended during pregnancy. (Castor oil packs, essential oils, detoxing etc.)

Apple Cider Vinegar, Blackstrap Molasses and Iodine (as Steve suggested) area all things that have helped simple cysts and are all things I have taken routinely in pregnancy. I do not know for sure if they would help a dermoid cyst, but they would be healthful things to do in pregnancy.

Eating a healthy diet and taking good care of yourself are the best things you can do for your baby at this point.

If you have a cyst on one ovary, even a torsion would not harm both ovaries, and pregnancies can be sustained with one ovary. I believe that a torsion is rare. I would encourage you not to worry. I don't mean to make light of your situation at all. I just want try to take good care of yourself and enjoy your pregnancy because those are the only things over which you have any control.
