Pregnant female with severe perioral dermatitis

I was diagnosed as having PD last August while pregnant. I was given a sulpher based cleanser and Desonide lotion by my Dermatologist and told to use both daily until the rash cleared, and then as needed for spots. Well, the rash never went away, and I continued to use both products daily until last week. I didn't realize that Desonide was a steroid, just knew it was for the inflammation. So my son is now almost 3 months old and I decided to stop using both products and find something else to get rid of the rash on either side of my nose.

Within 1 day of stopping, my face is completely covered in the rash, all around my mouth, both eyes, eyebrows and nose. My face feels like it's on fire, and my eyes feel as though it's actually in my eyes themselves. I have been trying ACV, both drinking it and applying it directly, but so far each day has been worse and worse. I went to my normal doctor and he prescribed erythromiacin for me as I am still nursing, and I am on day 2 of that. So far today has been the worst day, my entire face is bright red, tight and burning. I tend to have very sensitive skin anyway, so I suppose I'm reacting quite violently. My doctor told me I definitely have 'steroid rebound', but I am not using any more topical steroids to mitigate it, I just want off this viscious cycle! I'll keep with the ACV while I do the oral antibiotics to see how it goes. Right now I literally don't feel like I can leave my house, it is painful and hard to focus on anything but the rash. I'm so grateful to have found this website, at least to get some new ideas. I'll post again to update, but right now nothing seems to be working.

Hi sorry to hear of your condition, that inflammatory rebound being off steroid cream is awful!! I would suggest you trying monistat cream (vaginal cream) on your face.. it may help..
