Piriformis Syndrome Induced Foot Neuropathy

Posted By KSue (Portland) on 12/05/2021

I wondered if anyone has had neuropathy which they believe to be directly related to Piriformis Syndrome? And what did you do to alleviate it?

Briefly, I went to an Osteopath about 6 months ago and was told I had piriformis and sciatica. The Sciatica has finally settled down and I am 80-90% better. I sometimes still feel like I am walking on pebbles and the bottoms of both feet and my Plantar Fasciitis is very tight. I also feel tightness around my right ankle - that's the side with the Piriformis. (like a squeezing sensation).

I have done the Plantar stretches, flexes, slept with a night sock on (homemade copycat of Strassburg sock for about 3 months) I have been doing clamshell exercises, glute exercises, standing more (was sitting a lot for work) was putting topical magnesium spray on feet, along with lavender essential oil (mixed with olive oil as a carrier), I started taking 500mg Magnesium about a week ago. I have plateaued at this place and my feet are still driving me crazy. Would like my feet to feel normal again. I am trying to figure out what to do to get rid of this. It's driving me crazy.

Was reading about all these: R-ALA, MSM, DSMO. Don't know what to try or what dosage. Thanks for any suggestions or feedback for what worked for someone else.

If your feet are often/usually cold like mine you can add good sea salt, maybe 1/8 tsp to water and sip throughout the day. It makes my Very painful foot soles warmer, mostly they feel better, less painful. If your feet get too warm, use less salt... not the bleached white kind of salt, look up info about good salt...has a different ph and micro minerals.

There 2 YouTube videos by Dr.Berg that you might find helpful ...9 things your feet can tell you about your liver, and Diet for peripheral neuropathy. For me I believe these will be helpful, but untested in my case... im working on it. They are short and packed with information on causes of neuropathy & what to do for it, he has others too.

Very best wishes!

Denise
