Overwhelmed and advice needed on facial skin care

Posted By Nikki (London, Uk) on 03/26/2011

Hi, I have just discovered Earth Clinic in my quest to become more conscious and love it! I am a bit overwhelmed by all the info though and not sure where to start. I want to switch from store-bought ski products to homemade ones so can anyone please recommend what I could use as facial moisturiser and wash for sensitive skin. It's not in bad shape considering I've been haphazard on its care but does get dry and blotchy easily if it doesn't like what I put on it. I tried baking soda but it may be a little too drying so am now trying it with a little olive oil mixed in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Simple is best. If your face is not that dirty, just use warm water splashed on a few times, then blot dry.

To remove makeup, try olive oil or almond oil or experiment with other natural oils. If you must use soap, get the mildest soap you can find - never a deodorant soap. or a night time moisturer, use coconut oil.

If you feel the need to exfoliate, wet your face, then sprinkle a small amount of sugar on them, then scrub very gently and rinse with cold water.

Always wear a hat in strong sunshine.

If you use baking soda, try using it with a cream based cleanser and only once or twice a week. I love baking soda for exfoliating. For moisturizing I use Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil. Use it everywhere, not very greasy and doesn't make you break out. Best moisturizer I have ever used! Add it to your diet for extra benefit, just look it up because it has a ton of uses.
