Hello. My name is Crystal and i too suffer from lichen planus. Im starting to think that my lichen came from the dye in tattoos. Do you have any tattoos? Lichen is used as one of the ingredients in dye. Look into it.Replied by Joyce (Bonifay, Fl) on 02/17/2010
I do not have any tatoos. I believe it is caused from medicines I have taken in the past for an overactive thyroid. The medicines made my mouth feel really strange and that was years ago. I can't figure out anything else that might have caused it. But is is getting worse on my tongue and the only thing that is helping is the lidex gel which I hate to use, am still looking for help, I am 59 years old and have had this for 5 years, they told me it would go into remission, I only wish it would.Replied by Manda (Toronto, On) on 09/18/2011
I'm 52, my dentist diagnose the lesions in my mouth as errosive lichen planus, he prescribed Nystatin 100,000 u'/ml, 1tblsp 3-4 times/day, swish for a few seconds and swallow. It worked like a charm, in 3 days the redness disappeared and the white spots started shrinking. I can now taste food and enjoy a glass of wine.
