I just discovered I have a mite infestation last Monday. Thought it was fleas until I found a black speckle crawling on me. Then realized they were on my cats too. I am beside myself trying to find out how to get rid of these things. The hell I am going through with the itching and biting rates up there with Bone Pain. (I have had Breast Cancer and know! ) My washing machine started smelling like burnt plastic with all the washing I did last week. Now afraid to use until repair person comes. I have been vacuuming like crazy, still have a lot of vacuuming to do. Have not yet found anything to keep them off me. I think they are rodent mites because there are roof rats in the ceiling of the back add-on room. Could be black itchy mites from some homeless person on BART or bird mites from sitting outside under a tree to meditate. My conjectures.
I am trying to find any natural remedies to use on me and my cats to get rid of these pests. I have highly sensitive skin and easily break out in a rash if I use harsh chemicals, or oils I am allergic to (lanolin). I have a call into a pest control company...do not know if I have the funds to use their services. I will not ingest anything deemed a poison since I am so sensitive to everything.
I am taking notes on some of the current natural remedies on these pages. I am open to suggestions!
