Increased estrogen levels make it very painful, like when I was PMSing it was the worst. Arobic excercise reduces estrogen levels so start that on a regular basis... 30 min. At least every other day. Alcohol spikes your estrogen levels, I noticed it would flare up if I had drank too much and was hungover (i was 21, what can I say:). No alcohol works great, but, I still have a few drinks here and there (maybe 3 drinks on the weekend) and I'm fine. The major thing for me was to cut out non organic meats and dairy products. Vegatarion is great, but I'm not up for it so I try to stick with organic, free range, no hormone added meat and poultry and organic milk, cheese, all dairy products organic and hormone free. This helped so much! I never even feel the bump or pain anymore, I think it's gone, but then every summer when we go to alot of picnics, bbq's, camping... I end up eating non organic meat and dairy and it flares up again. This is proof to me that this is exactly what was causing the problem.
Also, ACV is a miracle that I feel couldn't hurt, it's good for overall health anyway. I would try all dietary changes that may effect estrogen before you jump into surgery. If you have the surgery and it was an estrogen based condition it'll just reaccur right? Hope this helps.

Transdermal iodine therapy: I tried this recently and I burnt myself! I had a cyst (size of my palm) pop up last month which was really painfull and I wanted to do something to help it along. So, I painted it with iodine.. I admit I went over board with it and ending up burning myself.
Yes, its gone on the inside, but my skin is now having to heal and I'll have an ugly scar. So, if I had to do it over, I would continue to drink the seasalt water and exercise a little more patience. Please be careful!
