I am confused. To keep alkaline or acidic for the urine?? I understand drinking cranberry juice to ward off bacteria launching on the bladder wall. That's acidic. But supposing taking calcium citrate to make urine alkaline to stay off UTI. My new urologist has prescribed Hiprex for me to take (for UTI prevention.. I have IC for about 20 years. I have been having recurrent UTI and yeast infection for the last few months). The infections are gone for over a month now. I think she does that for "precaution". But I am very confused. I have been taking calcium citrate and I think that is helping me. Can anybody give me some thoughts on this?? Thanks.

It needs to be alkaline! Best way to do this is to eat nothing but veggies! And water, u can also try using baking soda in water about 2 tablespoons in a cup of water 3 times a day. Veggies are the best alkalizers, fruit is ify w people with IC because its accidic, Acidic foods, junk food, fast food, soda, alcohol, meat, sugar. Many books on Alkalinity and Acidity, good luCK!
