We are trying to treat him in a more natural way (don't want to just mask the symptoms), but I am really worried about his platelets getting too low. We are currently waiting on his bloodwork from today. I am heart sick with all of this. Please let me know if any of you have had a similar experience, and if you can offer any advise or help.

T: There are several natural antiviral meds used regularly by folks with infectious conditions.
Here is a list of supplements to kill viruses.
1. ButylatedHydroxyTouline (BHT)
2. Echinacea
3. St. John'sWort
4. Lysine
5. Colloidal Silver
Hope this helps and let us know of any improvement.

Dear Tiffany,
I am sorry to hear about your son. There is a post on Earth Clinic's dengue fever page about barley grass juice powder helping a child with a low platelet count. Perhaps that might help?

[YEA] My nephew had dengue fever and was hospitalized for almost 1 wk, his platelets were low and somebody told my brother abt barley green, so they went and bought some and after drinking 2 bottles of barley green his platelets went up right away and was cured with dengue, thought I'm going to share this, if I case somebody might have this kind of virus, this is cause by mosquito bites. Thank you!!
Unfortunately, the poster did not give the daily dosage... perhaps someone on EC can advise how much barley green to take per day.

Dear Tiffany,
I believe a couple of more cures that Earth Clinic has reported for ITP are Vitamin C and Coconut Oil. (I believe coconut oil cured my ITP, though mine was never as severe as your child's.)
Both could be supplemented to whatever else you may try.
It would depend on your child's age how much to take, but for reference sake, I would give my own seven year old a teaspoon of extra Virgin Coconut Oil three times a day to treat a virus. (We have seen it do amazing things for mono.) And for vitamin C, 250 -500 mg several times a day. If loose stools should develop, cut back a little on that.
I hope his platelet numbers soar, and soon!
