Need Advice on Scabies and Treatments

Posted By Crista (Pompano Beach, Florida) on 03/17/2012

I was just diagnosed with scabies. I got it from my daughter who got it from her boyfriend. I treated my husband, grandson, and myself with Permetherin cream today. They are both sound asleep, I on the other hand am still itching like mad! I plan to use the borax/h2o2 soak on all of us as well. I'm not quite sure I have the stamina to continue with the extreme house cleaning though. Can I use a spray bottle with the same soak on the furniture? or just dry borax? Which would be better?

Also I have read about the sugar thing. As a diabetic and a nurse, I think I attend to agree with needing to cut down on the sugar, when my blood sugar is higher, I seem to itch more. Also, I have read in many forums and websites that it is not necessary to treat your animals If they are symptom free. If your animal has mange/mites, they do bite humans, but it is a totally different mite than what we humans are infested with. My cats are healthy and mange/mite free. Does anyone know of a case where the mite was transferred TO an animal?

Crista - I went through this as well. Both my doctor and my vet said that they are not transferred from animals. I too did the permethrin cream treatment and ended up having to do a second one a week or two later. I found a number of other things helpful. You pretty much need to vacuum everything that you can in your house and if you have or know anyone with a steamer, steam the couch and anywhere with fabric that you sit regularly. Wash your sheets in hot water every few days. Also try DE (diatomaceous earth). It has a fine powdery consistency that dries out and kills them. (Just be careful not to breathe it in) I sprinkled it on my sheets, sofa and in my shoes. Best of luck to you. It took a while for the Permethrin to start working for me, but it did work. It was about 3 weeks or a month before I noticed improvement. I wish you the best.

Well wife and I got these scabies almost a month now, went to Dr. 1st one said I had nothing, so I went to a Dermatologist he to said he could not see them yet they took no skin scrapes. He did prescribe Permithian and we both did the 1st one. Dr never mentioned if this was suppose to go in head as well. I just did the clove oil and coconut oil 3 to 1 mix and washed it off in 15 minutes. This mourning my wife did the Tea Tree Oil 20 drops in the water for 20 minutes while I had to go to work. I rubbed coconut oil all over just that and today I have felt sticking and movement. So what is the best I see so many things have not a clue who is telling the Truth Permitian is suppose to be bad and we have 2 more treatments. I here the Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide mix works for some. I then read Hydrogen Peroxide by itself kills everything but does it and do you put it all over including head? Kleen-Free was only one posting that said it works and also Scabbies Killer is suppose to work but I have spent money on Clove Oil, Tea Oil, Coconut Oil, also DE today purchased! So before I spend anymore how long before the movement and itching stops after you do these treatments immediatly cause so far not happened with the Clove and Coconut. The sulfur was how they did it before so why not still use by Drs if it works and what is the best method ??? Those that have had this for months and years I pray for you and your sanity because it is stressing me to my limits. Can We ever be cured do we have to pull everything from our drawers and closets and wash too!!
