Need advice about extracting badly infected tooth

Posted By Linda (Euless, Texas) on 03/21/2015

I have had an infected tooth for some time-two months or so. It started out slowly and the pain was mainly just annoying at first. I didn't do much for it in the beginning. I tried some natural approaches that really didn't work after about a month or so. I have had three different prescriptions of amoxillin. The latest that I have done is oil pulling with coconut oil and for the occasional pain I have used Colloidal Silver and it helps a lot. I have done this for about 2 weeks. The pain is not as bad now and the swelling has gone down. However, I worry that since I have had the tooth issue for so long that I need to get it extracted. I need to know what would be good follow-up natural care for after the extraction. Thank you so much for any input on this. The decision for the extraction is hard to make but I am so scared of what infection could have traveled to other parts of my body from the infection going on for so long. Thank you for any advice for this situation. I am scheduled for the extraction on the 24th. Linda

I share your pain and dread about having to remove a tooth. I have used Amoxicillin from an online pet store. It is very cheap and no prescription.

If the tooth is infected deep down within inaccessible underside the tooth, then it will likely need to be extracted if other experimental methods don't work. That's what happened to me. I'm 60 and only have two teeth missing.Every tooth that gets pulled sets up potentially another health problem.

I have been successful with abscesses. more surface cavities can be cured naturally also. The very deep down ones which are more inaccessible are the challenge.

There is area to research and experiment with although I didn't research this area enough. Here are a few links to start you off

In the meantime, rinse your mouth out with a little 3% hydrogen peroxide before you go to bed. this should keep the bacteria in your mouth in check.

Hope that these give you more ideas to try to solve the problem. I am starting to look at these devices as a complement to my other natural health things I do.

We need to experiment and bring anecdotal reports back to the internet. I really hate the dentists. Anything we can do to obsolete them is a great leap forward in health care and our financial health.

Make some jello, have some potatoes and or carrots mashed, ready to heat up, oatmeal is nice and soft for breakfast, try not to chew stuff. Chicken noodle soup for the saltiness ( no big pieces). Bone broth. Plan soft food for a few days so you don't get an infected dry socket. Don't suck on anything or you might lose the bloodclot that has to fill the open hole. Smoothies would be okay. I also took ibuprophen to relax before arriving at the dentist.

When you go to the dentist take an ice chest with ice pack in it - to put on cheek right away. Hold that on there while you get your prescription filled. You may not need pain relief but waiting until you do is not wise . Have it available if you can't cope with the discomfort. Day before- Rent a good movie to distract you. Some dentist provide ice packs, others don't .

Build up your immune system beforehand, and I ate all my favoite crunchy chewy stuff the week before the procedure.

To Linda,

Re: What to do before and after the extraction of tooth...

Well, you are already on to colloidal silver...and you already know that it has helped the infection.

When ever I go to the dentist for ANYTHING I hold in my mouth a few tablespoons of CS for a full minute and spit out. Then afterward do the same a few times. For fillings I even insist on taking my own little bottle of CS into the office and after the initial work is done and before closing the opening with a NON mercury filling, I again allow a tablespoon amount to just fill the opening. My theory is that will kill infection and avoid a world of trouble.

Hi, I don't know how to extract, but I once had an infection in a tooth, and I took goldenseal capsules, dumped the contents into an empty teabag, and placed it on the infected area. I also brushed the area with kosher salt and brushed the area with goldenseal.

The infection was not that bad, but it went away in only 2 days. Maybe it would help you save the tooth.

If you can tolerate it, it might also help to take it internally, as long as it is not counterindicated by any meds you take or other health conditions. Hope this helps, Yekara
