Seeking Natural Cures for Husband's Epilepsy

Posted By Colechillin (Indianapolis, In) on 03/17/2017

Hello,

I am hoping someone can help guide me to some natural cures for my husbands epilepsy. He has had partial seizures for about 2 years now. At first they were just auras but have since become simple partial seizures as well as tonic conic seizures. Since 11/28/2016 he has had 5 grand mal seizures and he is having anywhere from 1-4 partials per day. His doctor put him on generic Keppra and there has been a noticeable increase in his seizures since being on this medicine. We have asked for him to be placed on the brand name but they will not change his meds until he has a 2 day VEEG and that test is not schedule for another month. I have been reading a lot about coconut oil and magnesium citrate and want to get some advice on those two options. My husband has had 4 MRIs and each of them show a spot in his frontal lobe that is either an old injury or a 'dead' spot in his brain. They have also stated the area has cystic like properties. Results have been consistent since his first MRI noting no changes. He also had an EEG in the ER after his first grand mal and the results show that the abnormal activity is coming from the frontal lobe where the spot in his brain is. He is going to be 39 this year and just started having symptoms a few years ago which originally we thought was due to his high blood pressure. His BP is under control now. Any advice on which direction to go here?

Thank you in advance!!!

One of the least toxic and successful things to try for epilepsy is the ketogenic diet. Here is a link:
