Seeking Info on Natural Blood Thinners to Replace Eliquis

Posted By Jeannie (NJ) on 04/14/2023

Hi, I have recently come across EC and it rejoices my heart to see so many who are looking for natural ways for healing their health issues and reaching out to share what has helped them.

I had a massive stroke several years ago. Thankfully, my husband got me to the hospital quickly and I was given a shot of tPA and came out of it quickly. I had two blood clots at the base of my brain which the tPA dissolved. Several doctors told me that I would have died without it and I am so very grateful. However, I was then put me on Eliquis 5 mg. twice a day. I have not been happy with that (side effects) and now even with prescription coverage the drug company is charging $305 for a one month supply!

I am trying to find out what the best alternative natural blood thinning supplements I can use to replace the Eliquis. In research I've found that Nattokinase and serrapeptase, Blackstrap molasses, and PCV thin the blood but I don't know how much to take. I'm searching out the foods that thin the blood and the ones that tend to clot the blood as well. I would greatly appreciate any information as we just cannot continue the Eliquis because of pricing and also because we’d like not to continue taking drugs and the potential harm they may do.

It's wonderful to see how so many try to help others by sharing what has helped them...it's the way the world should be!

Jeannie, until you get better recommendations, you might start with drinking plenty of water - but, as with anything, don't go overboard. A glass every 2 waking hours is a good place to start.

Hi Jeannie, You should look into Cayenne Pepper powder. It is the best herb for keeping you healthy as well as thinning blood. You start with 1/8 sp. in 10 oz. water, drink through out the day. Do this everyday and when you get used to it. Increase to 1/4 tsp. a day. Work your way up to 1 tsp. It is the best herb..

P.S. To be safe on taking anything, I only take week days only and stop on weekends, so my body can use up and start over on Mondays. I do that for all my supplements.

God Bless,

Gary

I have been taking Solaray's Cool Cayenne capsules because they do not cause indigestion when taken after a meal. Cayenne keeps our blood flowing! Yay!

Hi Jeannie,

I'm a 73 year old guy who places great faith in the alternative, preventative medicine approach. I have currently been taking the following protocol to help prevent high blood pressure, clots and occlusions and here is the same protocol with dosages and frequency adjusted to your own problems:

Niacin (not niacinamide) taken at 500mgs three times a day always with meals. Niacin(flush form only) has the unique ability to safely thin the blood. Niacin also helps to safely regulate lipids and lipoproteins in the blood:

Effect of niacin supplementation on fibrinogen levels in patients with peripheral vascular disease

Tumeric powder at 1000mgs three times a day with meals. Tumeric has the remarkable ability to keep you heart and arteries/capillaries young and healthy.

Antithrombic activity of Tumeric(Curcuma longa): A review

Nattokinase enzyme at 2000 FU or at 4000 FU supplemented outside mealtimes, first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Nattokinase acts to dissolve clots in the body or in the brain. It also helps to take regular dosages of Pancreatin enzymes at regular advised dosages three times a day outside mealtimes. These enzymes will act to dissolve the fibrin or protein clots as well as dissolve blockages formed by excess fats in the blood. So this one is very important!

Nattokinase: An Oral Antithrombotic Agent for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease

Magnesium Oil (80% magnesium chloride 20% water). Take 10 drops twice a day in a glass of water directly after meals. This is the best form of magnesium to take since it helps to properly regulate calcium in your body, thus helping to prevent cell acidosis, cyst formation, blood clots and arterial occlusions. Mag oil helps to prevent clotting due to its ability to regulate calcium in the blood.

Safer Surgery with Magnesium

Chanca piedra (Stone Breaker herb). Taken at least 3 times a day after meals as a 1000 mg capsule or as a tea. This is a well known blood purifier which also helps to lower lipids, lower sugar, regulate calcium, dissolve gallstones and kidney nodules, anti-viral(cures Hepatitis C), kidney/liver support, diuretic, hypotensive etc.

Chanca piedra's Many Benefits

I've been using the above protocols -- at lower dosages and frequencies -- as a preventative for over a year now, to good effect.

You might also want to consider supplementing Terminalia arjuna(aka "Arjuna"), which is a well-known Indian Ayurvedic herb that has significant beneficial effects for the heart and arteries. Arjuna also helps to prevent both venous and arterial clotting because it helps to chelate and remove excess calcium from the blood as well as helping to safely decrease platelet activation in the blood:

Anti-coagulant effect of Chaal-e-Arjun [Terminalia arjuna] [In vitro study]

Inhibitory effects of Terminalia arjuna on platelet activation in vitro in healthy subjects and patients with coronary artery disease

Hi Jeannie,

I have found that 4-5 gloves of garlic crushed and allow to sit for 10-15 minutes for the allicin to develop is a very potent blood thinner. I will mix the garlic with a little ranch dip (try to make a homemade recipe - there are several on the internet that are just herbs and sourcream and in fact easier and cheaper to make) and then dip organic celery stalks (again organic is maybe $0.50 more and so much healthier - nonorganic celery is one of the highest pesticide vegetables on the market) into a little ranch dip without the garlic and then a dip into the ranch dip with garlic (it can be very strong, almost burning if not tempered with the ranch dip). I reduced my blood pressure from over 200 to normal and was able to refrain from a blood thinner medication my doctor was pushing me to take. Do your own research on garlic but I have found it to be quite powerful in my daily health routine.

Garlic worked for my blood pressure too. I still press it and wait 10-15 minutes for the allicin to develop then fold it into whatever I am eating. I love it raw and roasted. God's medicine is the best! :)
