My wife has an expanding bald spot

Posted By Sakthi (Bangalore, India) on 02/21/2015

Hi, My wife is facing a hair loss problem and she has got a patch (bald) in the front of her head. We tried going to a dermatologist and he suggested to take injections. After three sittings there was not much improvement. So he gave drops (minoxidil-5%) to be applied (twice a day) along with tenovate cream (twice a day). Now we see the bald patch area expanding. Could you please suggest a home remedy solution for this problem as we are afraid to believe in any treatment.

Expecting your response eagerly. Thanks, Sakthi.

Sakthi,

I ran across this study the other day when I was researching something else. It says peppermint oil can promote hair growth. There are suggestions on other sites to combine it with a carrier oil, such as coconut oil, if it is found to be too harsh. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4289931/. I hope it may be helpful for your wife.

Hi Bee, I interpreted it to be saying to use the peppermint oil (possibly with a carrier oil if it is too strong for your skin) topically. Best wishes.
