Mother has polymyalgia rheumatica and painful cramps

Posted By Najeera (Colombo, Sri Lanka) on 01/16/2015

My mother aged 74 was diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica last December. She is on predniselone 30mg daily. She frequently complains of cramps. It is a side effect. Her doctor has prescribed HCQs for cramps. Any comments on this. Can someone update on natural remedies like ginger, garlic and turmeric. Any helpful multivitamin or mineral supplements such as magnesium chloride, or magnesium acetate, or magnesium citrate.to relieve the pain?.

Any suggestions on baking soda plus citric acid .....solution.

Najeera, it seems that transdermal magnesium chloride is good for cramps.

Najeera, the prednisone is hard on your Mom's system and since you are in Sri Lanka, you may have good access to Black Seed Oil (Nigella Sativa) and Flaxseeds, two very potent anti-inflammatories. I would suggest giving your mother 1 tsp of black seed oil in the AM and one tsp in the evening. If the taste is bad for her, just mix it with a liquid she enjoys. Secondly, grind up two tablespoons of flaxseeds in a coffee/seed grinder (it has to be made fresh daily) and add to her food daily. These two sources of nutrients will calm down the Polymyalgia Rheumatica significantly if done consistently.

Myway,

:D
