Mother 59 has trigeminal neuralgia

My mother is 59 and has been suffering from Trigeminal Neuralgia for about 8 years now.

She has had Gamma Knife surgery, Microvacular surgery where you create a hole in the back of the brain and separate the nerves from the blood vessel. She also tried various acupunture and none of them make her feel better. She can't take any medicine because of the side effects... I am really desperate for my mom... anyone can help? Please...

Hi Karen - Has your mother tried any of the remedies on Earth Clinic's "Cure Trigeminal Neuralgia" (https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/trigeminal_neuralgia.html#RN_55454)? From what I've read in various medical newsletters, taking B12 (along with other B vitamins) can be helpful. Also cayenne pepper cream (pain-numbing abilities), magnesium (at least 500 mg daily), Vitamin C (probably to bowel tolerance level) and digestive enzymes (extremely important). Some people found that going gluten-free lessens their pain. Others have tried cranio-sacral therapy with positive results. Unfortunately, what works wonders for someone but not be the answer for everyone.

You probably already know this, but there is a support community (facial pain association) at http://www.fpa-support.org/
that may offer some help from others who are experiencing this incredibly painful disease.

I wish you and your Mom all the best - I hope you can find a solution that works. Take care, Bess

Dear Karen:

I hope some of these suggestions help. Here is a link to the TN Association Page:

http://www.fpa-support.org/2011/01/upper-cervical-chiropractic-therapy-ucc/

People are really getting pain relief and able to get off their meds in as little as 3-4 months with this therapy. Apparently it straightens the Atlas bone in the neck, which could compresss on the nerves in the neck causing the pain. I have been going for 2 mths and notice when I am really out of alignment even my Tegretol doesn't work well. But I know I have to wait.

The next thing: I am saving up to go to that LaserMed Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I am hearing alot of good reports; 2 ex-patients called me back and I am following another person, Donna, who has come back from this institute, pain free now for months.

But look up NUCCA and try to find an upper cervical chiropractor close to your home. they seem to help a lot of people.
