Liquid Iodine and Acute Bronchitis

I am asking a question about liquid iodine and breaking up dried mucous (from mucous bugs) in acute bronchitis where there is significant congestion and periodic strong coughing but little sputum.

The physicians involved explained that the cases with severe inflammation early causes a situation where thin amounts of mucous are formed to get around the mucous plugs but then dry up, blocking the surface area... which creates more inflammation which causes more thin mucous which dries up and creates more inflammation (all of which is causing more congestion). Nothing really helps it. Every doctor (4) just says to go with Mucinex (I have been on Mucinex at max strength and max dose since December 8th... And nothing).

I asked the last 2 doctors about prescribing SSKI (a prescription strength liquid iodine formula specifically formulated as a strong expectorant - plus loosens the dried mucous). Both declined advising that they weren't familiar with it and to just stay with the OTC Mucinex.

When I was a kid, doctors prescribed SSKI as a strong expectorant a lot. It would work fully in 3-4 days.

I wonder if the liquid iodine talked about on this site would have similar benefits?

Thanks.
