Kidney Pain and Lowering High Vitamin D3 and Calcium

Kidneys

Question: how do I reduce the high vit. D3 and Calcium as shown in my blood panel reports?

Background: My kidneys 'hurt' are tender at my lower back/upper sacrum. Sometimes one side of the kidney is tender to the touch in my back behind my ribs. I used to take vit. D (5K - 10K/day) but no more. Sometimes I'd take calcium supplements too, but no more. As a result of these combo supplements(?), suddenly I was vomiting/diahrrea and heart palpitations, eye headaches, at night if I lay flat I have chest pains, shooting pains along my stomach and duodum and down along my lower my small intestines. Felt very nauseous, no appetite, force myself to eat.

Last week while in bed early morning, felt a strong 'cramp' in my left shoulder blade that then shot down to my right hip intestines then over to my left hip intestines. Heart beats loud/strong/hard even while sitting at my desk or in bed at night. Little sleep or light sleep. Most of my life not able to always 'catch my breath', or able to 'get a full breath' when I want it. My doctor wants me to see a kidney specialist cause my kidneys functioning far less than optimal. Tired a lot. Do not sleep deeply. Wake up tired.

What is your phosphorus level? Potassium level?

Does your D3 include K2 (MK4 or 7)?

There should be a balance of D3, K2 and A for optimal absorption. If phosphorus is high that is one clue of over doing the D3. It's a careful balance of raising D levels with watching bloodwork closely.

I would suggest flushing out the kidneys with lots of water water water.

thank you for the response. I don't know about the other vit. or minerals re: my blood panel. what the doctor told me is my calcium is pegged up as high as it can go and my vit. D is close behind. So, yes I am drinking heavily for past month and both calcium & D3 not lowered much. Now I'm drinking apple cider vinegar in my water several times per day. My chest still hurts somtimes, my heart still races when I drink a lot of water at one time, and then slows to a thump thump thump even when sitting. I'm afraid to job like I used to. I just walk. Tired a lot but energy improving. Frequent pings and dings of pain over my entire abdomen thruout the day. But they not debilitating.

Much appreciated.

Can you find out your calcium/magnesium ratio, phosphorous level, potassium level? These are important to monitor.

You might be low on Mg?

A kidney specialist seems reasonable since you have been having trouble for a month now.

K2 is important also with D3 as it helps transport to all the places it needs to be utilized.

Betty,

Blood panel result for specimen taken 2/7/22 shows calcium at 10.8. How is mag. labeled on a test result?

Also, I take magnesium every night, 400-800mg each nite. I've stopped taking calcium supplements for the past 2 mths and no D3 for past 2 mths.

My kidneys were tender this morning. I drank water all morning [2/24/22] with a T.of apple cider vinegar, and now lemon water. Boiled then simmered a whole lemon in the water today and been adding lemon to water I drink all day. I'm feeling better this afternoon after a painful slow morning. I'll keep taking lemon each day. Some suggest I eat the peels too.

Thank you so much for your help and insight.

CJ

Magnesium #1 mg/dL, range 1.6-2.4

Sounds like the lemon and ACV is working? You can make your lemon water using the peels (diced) also but let the lemon peels and water sit in the fridge until the next day. I put the peels in my lemon water too. You can also freeze lemon and lime peels for adding later.

A few years ago I tried to raise my D level without dr support and thought I was in trouble. Phosphorous was so high but after an expanded vitamin/mineral panel we found out I stopped just in time before other levels went screwy. My kidneys didn't begin to hurt even though phosphorous was so high. I only had to drink water, non fluoride, for about a week before the level started coming down.

I still have the expanded vitamin/mineral panel done every 6 months as part of my anti-cancer protocol.

Forgot to ask; What was your D level?

Mine was in the 60 range and wanted to raise it to 80 and above. I am getting there with the help of close monitoring bloodwork.

D3 333.0 ng/ml

From my notes from 2 years ago your level is mild toxic. Generally anything over 200ng/mL is a concern for hypercalcemia. But your calcium is barely over normal range so that might be a good thing it is barely over.

Makes me wonder if you got a gut biome imbalance from the high level and developed an infection. What is your WBC count/lymphocytes?

If it were me, I would have both D levels checked every 7-14 days now. 25 hydroxy and calcitriol. Watch them closely as you try to lower it.

I will throw the situation on the table with ND and see if he can comment.

Thanks.

I was taking 5K-10K of vit D3 daily for many months. so I unknowingly poisoned myself. I continued to drink a lot of water every day. I found eating broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower each day helps the pain and nausea a huge lot. I wish someone on this site knew more about this. I'll have to look elsewhere for help.

take care and thanks.

Cj, I have had a lot of personal experience in this field.

First off I have to disagree with you on 3 things.

1) There is plenty of bad advice on the Internet; so don't listen to them.
2) Depending on your weight and history of D3 intake, 10K of vitamin D3 is not much.
I took 10K of vitamin D3 for 5 years and didn't have any issues.
3) No, you didn't poison yourself.
4) No, it will make little or no difference what foods you eat.

However, on the positive side,

1) For calcium management this is tremendously important; take (every day) 5 mg of vitamin K-2 by Carlson
2) Yes, you need to drink a lot of water (every day); but not just any water; make sure it's distilled water.
3) For kidney pain, take "Kidney Cleanse 90 vegetarian capsules" by Now Foods.
4) For hematuria, take nothing but "Chanca Piedra" a.k.a. stone breaker.

CJ, I cured myself of kidney pain, kidney stones, vitamin D3 overdose, as well as hematuria.

My MD was little or no help. No, he didn't have any idea as to what the right course of action was. For example, never once did he ask me about my (K2, and D3) supplements. And, never once did he order any tests on my serum levels of vitamins K2 and D3.

However, I cured myself successfully, and I did it in record time, too. Therefore I feel that I have a lot of experience in this field.

1) Based on my experience, your issue is *not a kidney issue*. It's better described as a "systemic calcium management issue".

2) Your MD won't know anything about this. MDs tend to be ignorant on vitamin K-2. Example: He sent you to another MD, a kidney specialist who will do what? Give you kidney drugs? Chances are your MD will continue to steer you in the wrong direction.

3) No one will tell you this, but if you're taking D3 *and* Calcium *and* if you're also ignoring your vitamin K-2, then you're abusing your body, and therefore you're giving yourself unnecessary aches and pains that will likely alarm you sooner or later.

4) The reason why you started having all those weird aches and pains was because

A) your body was vitamin K-2 deficient in the first place, then

B) when you were taking a combination of vitamin D3 **and Calcium**, too, your body was absorbing large amounts of calcium, and also it did not know where to deposit all that calcium. Therefore it deposited it in the most unlikely and some of the weirdest places.

5) It is great that you have already stopped taking Calcium.

6) Make sure that you never ever take any Calcium supplement.

7) Important: Take at least 5 mg (or 5,000 mcg) vitamin K2, per day, every day... and take it with your fattiest meals.

8) Drink a lot of water; and make sure it is distilled water.

9) Your weird pains will not diminish at all, until you do the combination of the following 8 things:

In order of importance:

A) Stop all Calcium supplements (and you say you already did),

B) Stop all that vitamin D3 (or, have you stopped it already?),

C) Take plenty of vitamin K-2 (or, are you taking it already?),

D) Drink plenty of distilled water,

E) For kidney pain, take "Now Kidney Cleanse (herbal caps)"

F) For kidney stones and or hematuria, take (the herb) "Chanca Piedra" a.k.a. "Stone Breaker".

G) For insomnia, take 1,000 mg of (the amino acid) L-Triptophan.

H) Avoid the intake of calcium rich foods e.g. sardines & dairy.

10) Given sufficient time (i.e. 2-3 months) and a lot of patience, pain and suffering, you will recover completely. However -- despite the weird aches and pains and suffering -- you will need to be patient!

I was sitting at a crowded local coffee place one day during lunch. Cell rang and I explained I had to go see a pharma rat for an rx. Got to doc office and the receptionist just looked at me so different and I realized she was familiar from the coffee shop. She was sitting right beside me at another table. Oh boy!

Really MDs are only useful for things you need insurance to cover such as bloodwork, scans, rx. I get all my info like this and say "Thank you, I will review it." And I am gone for real help!

I was talking to a lady today about bloodwork, telling her to have her doc check IL's and LDH 1-5 T&B/NK lymph panels/CD's relating to her problems. She called and requested it. They acted like they didn't know what the crap she was talking about. She called and told me about the exchange. I told her push for it, they can not deny running the panels even though they know nothing about expanded panels. She is n=1 and needs to remind them as most have forgotten this or never taught this in their pharma rep medical schools. Get it done, thank them and get real help.

I am a big believer of bloodwork. Bloodwork tells a story about YOU.
