Itchy and Dry Feet

Posted By Dfed (New York) on 03/10/2022

Extremely itchy and dry feet need help!

Prescribed special lotion for itching and dryness but it did not work. Itching worse bottom of heels. sometimes middle sole of foot and occasionally all the way to the bottom of toes. I'm not diabetic.

It could be so many things: meds, dehydration, humidity in your house, socks making your feet too warm, ect.

Dfed, I would use coconut oil for the itching and for the dryness.

Coconut oil mixed with Tea tree oil 1:1 ratio. Apply to feet daily.

There is only one thing I know that works beautifully for dry itchy feet- Udderly Smooth Hand/ Body Cream- look at Walgreens or CVS. Very soothing and not greasy. I put it on thick and put my feet up to let it absorb into my feet. Sometimes will wrap in a plastic bag and put on big socks.

Anything that appears on the bottom of the feet, itchy and dry skin included, is most likely fungal in nature. An antifungal cream that you can safely apply to the entire bottom of the foot that contains Clotrimazole (Brand name Lotrimin, found in the pharmacy) is a good start, but you will still have to work to kill the fungus lurking below. Unfortunately, doctors can sometimes misdiagnose issues on the feet as eczema, as in my case. It may have been there for a quite a long time and will take a while to clear. Any sugar in your diet will make it worse.

Good luck!

I would agree that it sounds fungal from what you indicated. When I had the same thing happen to me, I assumed that it was fungal, and did a warm foot soak with some vinegar in water. It did the trick! Just make sure that you don't have any broken skin, or it may sting.
