Karen,
For me, I have found that using colloidal silver (CS) in a liquid form works well to control pathogens in the wound and to help the wound heel faster. I use a clean piece of cotton cloth that when folded to be at least 4 layers thick and large enough to cover the wound area and a bit more around the wound. I wet the cloth with 20 ~ 40 ppm CS, but not dripping wet. I place the folded cloth over the wound and then secure in place with an Ace elastic wrap. The wrap keeps it in place and lengthens the "wet time" of the dressing. Apply for two to three hour intervals and then remove and allow the area to completely dry. Reapply once the area is fully dry. Repeat as needed until healed. The wet CS seems to work better when wet. This is what has worked for me and may be worth considering.

Dear Karen, Raw honey. Manuka honey if you can find it. Preferably in a glass jar.
In the days before her death from Alzheimer’s, honey was healing my mother’s bedsores, even as compromised as she was.
If you can find plantain leaf powder, you could mix that into the honey. Plantain herb is an amazing wound healer.
You can then cover the honey or honey with plantain with a dressing and change it a couple of times a day.
In my children, I find skin problems heal faster if they avoid sugar and add milk kefir to the diet.
