Is there a natural alternative for advair 50050 diskus

Posted By Terri (Kailua, Hawaii) on 09/12/2014

I have severe copd and I quit smoking 14 months ago. I take advair 500/50 diskus and I take Ipratropium Bromide o.5mg and Albuterol Sulfate 3 mg for my nebulizer. I can actually go days without using the nebulizer but I can't seem to go without the advair. I don't want to rely on drugs, I would much rather do natural remedies. However, I have tried quite a few and nothing seems to help and I end up having to go back on my advair. I tried that enzyme Serrapeptese but that made me worse. I do get lots of sunshine and I take vitamin a along with ginger and magnesium. Any suggestions on a natural alternative for the advair? I'll take any suggestions you have. Thanks--Terri V.

Dear Terri,

It sounds like you are making good progress with your health!

You might want to add turmeric to what you are doing. The advair contains a steroid to prevent inflammation. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory herb. You can take a teaspoon twice a day with a little black pepper to make it work better. Some take it in capsules. Some take it in milk.

We have had success with using hydrogen peroxide in a nebulizer and I believe I have read about people with COPD doing this. We use 5 drops of hydrogen peroxide and 35 drops of distilled water in the medicine cup. Of course, then you will be back to using the nebulizer daily again. (I would do this at least twice a day.)

Also, a friend of a friend was diagnosed with COPD twelve years ago. She started taking "Clear Lungs" and has not had any trouble since. Unfortunately, it is not cheap and she still takes it. But she is doing very well.

I hope you will find some solutions that will work well for you!

Terri, I wanted to respond to taking Advair. I have to take the low dose Advair every other day but I am weaning myself of it by doing the following and it seems to be working. Here is what I am doing.

1 tsp organic turmeric, 1/2 tsp of black pepper, 1 tablespoon of virgin organic coconut oil, 1 packet of stevia, half of a lemon (squeezed juice), in 8 oz of hot green tea. Add a little raw honey if the stevia doesn't do it for you. This method of drinking the turmeric and the pepper (which potentiates the curcumin in the turmeric REALLY helps the inflammation. Also, there is a substance in coconut oil that helps the flexibility of the lungs. Anyway, it seems to be working for me...and there is so many reasons to take turmeric.....give this a solid try for 6 months. I wish you all the best!
